ABSTRACT: A presentation of the results of an investigation of the circulation in
high- powered steam boilers under I 10 kg /cm2 pressure, fired by
pulverized coal mined in the Moscow region. The investigations
were carried out in the Central Boiler and Turbine Institute between
1947 and 1951. The aim of the tests was a study of the distinctive
features of the circulation in high-pressure steam boilers and a
verification of the effect of the use of mine-and-mill furnaces on the
circulation regime within such boilers.

Abstract.' Guinea pigs were subjected to X-irradiation in
doses of 200, '300 and 400 r. Two and six days
after irradiation the animals Were infected through
the nasal passages by influenza. virus type A, strain
"Pan." The experiments showed that X-Irradiation of
guinea pigs even in doses of 200 r considerably
lowers their natural resistance to influenza virus,
a3 a result of which they develop influenza pneum-
onias sometimes with lethal results. An influenza
virus was Isolated from lightly infected guinea pigs.

TEXT: A theoretical investigation of the scattering of particles in a
centrally symmetric potential field necessitates the solution of an

potential '9(x) occurs, for example, in the optical model of the nucleus,
and, for small values of k, requires very elaborate calculations. A
general method for the solution of such problems was developed by P. E.
Nemirovski;y. The author of the present article gives a new method for
its Solution. The method is based on an expansion of the phase shift. ~ X
in a power series of Uo (U(X) - Uof(i)). It is suitable for mean and
