.1. The Italian tanker RAPALLO was recently undergoing repairs in the Sari Rocco
shipyard in Trieste. The vessel, which is of the old type, vdth a boiler
and'a speed of nine to ten knots,, gross tonnage 3,445 tons, capacity
7..5 51 tons, is oiled by the Azienda Generale Italiana Petroii, Rome, and
is operated in Trieste by the Tarabocchia Maritime Agency.
2,, The vessel departed at four o'clock in the afternoon on 21 May bound for
Vlore where it was to load crude oil between 26 and 31 May. Thence, the
vessel will proceed to Danzig where the oil will be unloaded and delivered
to an unidentified Polish refinery.

Negotiations for the use of the vessel were carried out in Rome by the
Albanian commercial representative and the fee was to oe paid in United
States dollars, which may be paid by a Polish bank. The cost of the oil is
estimated at 165,OOO,o0O lire which will allegedly be paid to the Soviets
by the Poles in (United States dollars. Under this exhange, the Soviets ? arc
to give the Poles a like value in Soviet goods and the Poles are to provide
Albania with industrial equipment and Silesian coal.
