Approval of Minutes` 4 June`Meeting (IAC-M-292) Approved as written. In this connection, after referring to item 4 Mr. Kent noted that he had communicated with Mr. Cumming and that they were attempting to work out a solution with respect to the proposed NIE on Resistance Intelligence. 2. Review of Crisis Situations a. Watch Committee Report No.; 357 Noted . b. Other Crisis Situations 25X1 25X6 Mr. Cumming then invited the member s attention to the fact that the electoral returns in Lebanon thus far appeared to be generally favorable to the US. The members also exchanged views on recent developments in Jordanian-Egyptian relations, especially the possible extent to which King Hussein may have acted with the prior knowledge and approval of King Saud in expelling certain Egyptian personnel from Jordan. Mr. Cumming stated that the problem of French-Tunisian relations continued to bear watching and discussed in some detail with the members certain factors affecting this situation. After stating that he planned to brief the NSC on this situation, the Chairman indicated that he might contact Mr. Cumming again on this matter and asked General Schow to furnish certain order of battle information. SNIE 100-7-57 Probable Sino-Soviet Reactions to US Deployment of Nuclear Weapons Systems Approved as amended. 5. NIE 11-3-57 Probable Intelligence Warning of Soviet Attack on the US Through Mid-1960 After discussing this draft estimate the members agreed to defer action for one week, during which the IAC representatives were directed to reconsider certain aspects of this paper (particularly Section III, A) in the light of comments by General Lewis and other members, and submit any proposed revisions for IAC consideration. 6. Special Air Force Briefing At 1300 the Air Force presented a special briefing.
