Outlook for the Syrian
Situation
As he opened the meeting, Mr. Dulles stated that this paper
had been prepared on an urgent basis, in response to a specific re-
quest by the Acting Secretary of State. After reviewing information
and intelligence from various sources bearing on the Syrian situation,
the members approved this estimate, as amended.
2. Executive Session
a. At 1835 the Chairman requested an executive session.
b. In addition to discussing other matters, the members,
while in executive session, approved the release of SNIE 36. 7-56 to
USIA,
