A oonmunicetion received from Lhasa on 27 May 1950 by the Tibetan fxission
to Communist China reports that Chinese Communist troops have crossed the
Yangtze River east of Jyekundo and have seized one of two mobile wireless
sets based on Chando. Tibetans in the area are ap ,ealing to Lhasa for halt).
It is not known in Lhasa, the comnunicrtion says, whether the Chinese troops
are moving farther west. No fighting has been reported, however. In the
light of the above, the communication urges the Mission to leave Calcutta
for Hong Kong as soon as possible to ooiitact a representrti.ve of the
Chinese Peoples Republic who will meet the Mission at Hong Kong.*

be a fabrication designed to.speed the grantinz of travel facilities
to the Mission. it present two members of the ,'fission plan to fly to
Hong Kong on 4 June via British Overseas Airways. The other members
hope to settle the passport problems and follow on 11 June.
