The new trade agreement between the USSR and Finland for 1955 - within the framework of the valid five-year trade agreement - has now been signed in Moscow. In general, the agreement follows the lines of the past year*s agreement, although there is some curtailment of the volume due, mainly, to the USSR cutting down the import of Finnish prefabricated houses. 2. The import from the Eastern area (including three-corner transactions) will total about 527 million roubles, while the.Finnish exports to the USSR will amount to about 555 million roubles. Of the difference, the USSR will pay, as it did last year, 40 million roubles in Western currencies or in gold. In fixing prices for Finnish exports as well as for Soviet imports the ruling world market prices have been taken as directive basis. 3. The agreement provides for the supply of grain as follows: Rye 100,000 tons at 68.-- per 1000 kgs free on wagon at the ~ (195+ 50,000 tt " 55?--) Soviet/Finnish frontier station Wheat 180,000 " " US$77.50 > " It (1951180,000 " " us$83.--) The above quantities are intended solely to cover the requirement in Finland. Perhaps in later negotiations there will be taken up the question of the import of further quantities for re-export to the Western countries. - end - s-aneValuated information for US Ctrs es Only is Supplied f ` or t O "ossible Intere pff Inaf nat urarra st of disse W i m on hY i.Wa16Y'44 A'61.4IE AREA 25X1 A g fin AP 1 0 195a DENTIAL US OFFI NLY DISTRIBUTION STATE ARMY~NAVY AIR FBI This 7 t l "fa,/g? 4fX, !Rej@,3';`b9lne7lil59lc9lrjjp`Sn~n~l f fFie ~7'eP83 nQ04 or goncies 3R001 01020above.
