ABSTRACT: 1. For the insulation of resistance transmitters in hydraulic
tests, the authors recommend the application of a mixture of
technical vaseline + transformer oil in the ratio 2.5 : I at
low temperatures and 4 : I at higher temperatures The thick-
ness of the insulating layer should amount to at ieast 2 to 3cm.
For the application of this insulation onto perpendicular sur-
faces a casting mold is used. The insulation was tested for
several months at 25 at. and showed that the resistance between
transmitter and surface does not change and does not influence
the quality of the transmitter. 2. For the fastening of wire
transmitters onto the metal surface to be tes'ted the author
uses the waste products of caprone production. The caprone
tissue is cleansed from impurities, degreased in hot water, and

after which it is heated by means of a burner to 235' (the
melting point of daprone~ the caprone tissue is laid on, and
after the latter has melted, the wire transmitter is pressed on.
After cooling and hardening of the caprone substance measure-
ments may be carried-out by means of the -transmitter. If tests
are carried out in a moist medium, also the transmitter is
covered by the caprone tissue. 3. The authors carried out a
number of tests in order to find out to what extent the ten-
sions in the endangered cross section of the sample, which are
produced by static bending tests, agree with those tensions
acting in the case of vibrational stresses. In this connection
a tensiometrical amplifier of the type TE-4-54 as constructed
by the TsNIITMASh, a loop oscillograph of the type 11PO-2 and
electric resistance wire-paper-transmitters (go Ohm resistance)
are used. Samples of Armco iron, metalloceramic titaniumand
magnesium-aluminum alloys were subjected to static and dynamic
stresses, and the functions "tension - bending -11 are graphically
represented (Figure). For iron and titanium the static stresses,
with deflections being equal, are by 13% less than the dynamic
stresses, whereas in the case of magnalium. static stresses are

Abstract /Authors' English summary modified 7: Prohoptatrien was
admini ered to 76 patients suffering from depressions.
Total effectiwnesswas recorded in 52.6'lof. The effect of the drug
lies betwopn that of irmipramine and of phenothiazines. The im-
provenent in the condition of the patients occurs in the 2nd and
3rd weeks. Side offects are -frequent, but not serious. The photo-
myoclonic threshold was not influenced by the drug. 1 Figure, 1

IV was prepared by esterifying I in the usual way. Compound III re-
sulted (together with I) from the heating of 2-methyl-6-(P-chloro"n--.,,-,,-,-
cyanoethyl)-benzothiazole with cone* HC1. To prepare V. 2-methyl-

--aminobenzothiazole was diazotized and reacted with Ptp-dimethyl-,-.,
acrylic acid/acetone/Na acetate/CuCl 9 at 200C for 4 hre. V19 VII
and-VIII (2-methyi-6-(P-benzothiazolil-(2)-vinyl]-benzothiazole)
were prepared in a similar mannerv using Ptp-diphenylacrylic, a-
phenylcinnamic and 0-(Q-benzothiazolyl)-acrylic acids. Uv spectra
of these compounds showed conjugation of the heterocyclic rings

ABSTRACT: A new nitrate -alcohol, 2-nitro-2, 2-bis (nitrate- m ethyl) ethanol was
obtained by acid hydrolysis of 2-nitro-2, 2 -bis (nitrate-m ethyl) ethyl acetate.
2-Niitro-2, 2 -bis (nitrat e-m ethyl) ethyl acetate was synthesized by three different
i me thods: ac etylation of the product of partial oxidative nitration of tri (hydro-
xym ethyl) nitrom ethane (acetate III), nitration of 2-phenyl- 5 -nitro - 5 -hydroxym ethyl-'
1, 3-dioxane acetate (acetate Illa), as well as nitration of 2, 2-dimethyl-5 nitro-5-

spectra were obtained for 2-nitro-2, 2 -bis (nitrate -m ethyl) ethanol as well as for
methacrylate and acrylate of 2-nitro-2, 2-bis (nitrate-m ethyl) ethyl. Orig. art.

ABSTRACT: The article deals with a critical review of the book "Statistics
of Power Engineering in Industry" by A.A. Rodshteyn, published
in 1956. It deals with contemporary problem-s_oT-~-J-~er economy
in the USSR and improvements in the field of statistical practice.
It is built up similar to a manual on industrial statistics but
is more detailed and thorough. Power resources, electrification
of production processes, methods of calculation of a plant's
power capacity, periodical and annual accounts of enterprises
on power and fuel economy are topics which will interest econ-
omists and statisticians employed in industry. The book ex-
plains the basic methods of power statistics, indicating a few
ways for further improvement and development of industrial
statistics.
