TITLE: On the Coefficient of Homogeneity of the Kukermite Concretes

PERIODICAL: Izvestiya Akademii Nauk Estonskoy SSR, Seriya Tekhnicheskikh
i Fiziko-Matematicheskikh Nauk, 1957, 4, PP 362-36T (USSR)
ABSTRACT: One of the basic problems, the solution of which is
necessary for the calculation of various structures, is the
correct determination of the coefficient of material homoge-
neity. The value of this coefficient depends on the mean
value of the strength of a material under. investigation and
the dispersion of deviations from this mean value. The
author carried out laboratory studies of the dispersion of
strength characteristics of Portland cement and kukermite
(under this name is understood binding material manufactured
by the fine grinding of the cinders left after the burning
of the Baltic oil-shale, kukersite, in industrial furnaces)
produced in the Plant imeni Vorovskiy and the Podollsk Plant.,
It turned out that the dispersion characteristics in kuker-
Card 1p mites were considerably higher than in the Portland cement.

On the Coefficient of Homogeneity of the Kukermite Concretes and Solutions
The author concludes from this that the coefficient of
homogeneity of kukermite concretes should be lower than that
of the Portland-cement concretes. Therefore, the kukermite
concretes can be recommended only for the structures.with
a considerable reserve of strength.

PERIODICALs Geodeziya i kartografiya, 1960, No. 6, PP. 38 - 39
TEXT: In terrestrial photogEametric surveys the backing frame of the
phototheodolite must be adjusted in the vertical. It is shown here that
the usual method of checking:this condition, i.e., the photographing of
three plumbs, is not very convenient. A different method is suggested
here. It is recommended to use a two-sided level which is attached to a
cross-shaped metal plate. The plate is pressed ontdthe surface of the
backing frame by means of a spring (Fig.).ltith the use of two, pairs of
adjusting screws, the level axis can be shifted horizontally,:and vertically
with respect to the outer surface of the plate. Checking is done in two
parts, and is described here. There is I figure.

ABSTRACT: The article presents the results: of an investigation of the protective
properties of certain inhibitors (nitro- and dinitrobenzoates) synthrz'.ized at the
authors' laboratory; these properties were tested in natural as well,as accelerated
conditions involving cyclic and continuous.exposure to moisture,~withthe aid~of a
specially developed device (Persiantseva,.V. P., Rozenfel'.d, 1. L.-: Zavodskaya..*,.-
laboratoriya, 1958, 24, 7, 282). ,(The tests under natural conditions simulated the
conditiona under which metal products are stored In unheated warehouses andlasted
for 21 months.) The inhibitors-investigated were: 'hexamethyleneimine meta-
