The authors discumsed this resultp and though they believe a blurring of the minimum by the pkiyeical and chemical non4rhomogensity of the surface to be possiblio, thoy do not bolieve it capable o4 mAing the minimum disappear entirely. They ea;ue to the conclusion that in the case of the Pt electrode the mothod of measi;rIng the capacityjof the double layer by means of a-c curront cannot be used to determinelthe position of the zero potential. The present work explains the growth of anodic films combining electrochemical and structural methods of investigation. For this purpose, films were studied which were formed on 2smooth lead eleciroaes with anodic polarization (current 2 ma/cm ) for 3, 24 and 48 hours. The bath consisted of 2,8 N and 10.4 N H2SO solutions at 25 and 650. In one case CoSO, Vas added. Corrotion products were determined by cathodic reduction in 1 If Na S04 sOlu- tion. The modulator operates in the following manner: at a given angular position of the prism with respect to the laser beam, light from a lamp is focused through a lens and illuminates a photosensitive diode. The output pulse of the photodiode is ami)lified and fed to the comparator. When the rotational speeds of the mot~,or and the prism are equal, the comparator initiates a pulse that lightathe laser pumping lamp and thus triggers the laser.
