effect of acetylcholine, less strongly epinephrine and norepin ephrine; The
.effect on seminal vesicles of non-castrated animals was much less pronouced.
Incubation of the vesicles with methandrostenolone significantly increased
the reaction to acetylcholine, promising a possible tool for differentiation

TEXT: The increased,application of austenitic steels in the chemical
industry and in thermal power plants continuously demands higher specifications
for reliable weldability, permanent heat resistance and corrosion resistance.
Studies of the phase conversions in the heat-affected zone of an austenitic steel
during the welding process or heat treatment are of great importance. Comprehen-
sive tests, particularly on the basis of thermal cycles, showed that cracks are
caused by the combined effect of a number of factors, e.-.: liquid film around
the grain boundaries, inner stress, formation of micro-cracks during cooling, hot-
and cold-shortness, generation of a new phase in the local formation of a eutectic)
etc. The o--phase and form and distribution of niobium carbides also have a con-
siderable influence on the resulting properties.

TITLE: The problem of structural stability of 16/13 Nb austenitic steel
in resistance flash butt welding

TL;",'-T: Some mechanical properties and structural changes in the heat-
affected zone of Type 16-13Nb steel at resistance flash butt welding were studied
to resolve controversial interpretations regarding the causes of cracking iTi the
weld area of this steel type. A thermal-cycle simulator with programable beat-
treatment of test specimens was built for this purpose at the laborato'rium fyzik-y
kovov SAV (Laboratory of Metal Physics, Slovak AS). In the test program, three
thermal cycles were simulated with the following respective maximum temperatures:
Tmin--900OC; Tinter~=1-1000C; and Tma)rl300oC. The influence of these cycles on the

structural stability of the investigated steel was determined by: Optical and
electron microscopy; X-ray and electron diffraction; microchemical analysis and
spot X-ray spectral analysis; and magnetometric analysis. From the results ob-
c'
tained, it is concluded that the final mechanical properties of the steel are
areatly influenced not only by the sigma phase, but also by the morphology and
distribution of niobium carbide. However, the cause of the cohesion loss along
the grain boundaries cannot be explained merely by the observed phase transfor-
mations, as proposed by Moore and Griffith LI-journal Iron Steel Inst. 197, 1961,
1, 29-392, but Is rather attributable to the combined effects of various factors,
such as liquid film along the grain boundaries; internal stresses; formation. of
microcracks upon coolin 1-i hot and cold brittleness; formation of a new phase;
local formation of niobium eutecticum; etc., as suggested by Heuschkel Z1_qeldin,-
Journal 35, 1956~ 12, 569-5612. There are-34 figures and 3 tables.

ISTRACT: A method is proposed for using plentiful minerals as raw materials for
,oduction of ecomonic pyroceramics nth a pyroxene composition and excellent physical,
!chanical, thermal and anticprrosionPproperties. The phase diagram of the CaO-MgO-
.132 system is used as a base with addition (above 100 wt.%) of R20 and R203 in the
irm. of Na20, Al-203 and Fe203. This ternary system has a pyroxene field containing a
intinuous series of diopside-enstatite solid solutions. There is a good basis for
suming that a continuous isomorphic series passes through the entire system. This
important from the standpoint of synthesizing pyroceramics based on multicomponent
.w materials (e. g. clay) since all components appearing in the original raw material

nter the crystalline structure of the pyroxene solid solution during conversion of
he glass to pyroceramic in the isomorphic series. The glass was founded in 1-liter
uartz crucibles in a gas furnace at a maximun temperature of 1450-14700C. The optimum
ompositions were founded in 25-kg crucibles. The experimental specimens were sub-
ected to gradient crystallization and heat treatment under various conditions (2, 4
nd 6 hours at 600-10000C). The pyroceramic products are subjected to comprehensive
-ray, electron micrescope, petrographic and extraction analysis. The results show
hat; pyroceramic conversion of pyroxene glass&ynthesized from nonmetallic raw
materials is a continuously vari-aBle proFe-ss. Continuous interaction between the'
tructural. complexes in the glass during heat treatment results in a pyroxene phase of, N~~-!-

is the product of condensation of phenolsulfone, dissolved
in beta-naphtholsulfonic acid. Leather, tanned vith
BD syntan is resilient. This grade is suitable for
tanning leather of modium resistance. Romatan CL is
the product of condensation of lignosulfonic acid with
cresol sulfonic acid and phenol. Leather tanned with
this syntan is pliable, rich, and is good to the touch.
Because of this the CL grade is suitable for the pro-
duction of yufts, saddle and harness leather. Romtan
RL is the product derived from phanolformaldehyde resin
and of dispersed mid partially denothylated and di-
sulfonated lignosulfonic acid. Leather tamed with PL
grade have properties approaching those tanned with the
"kverbrachls extracts". Romatan BCF also possess an
