MEMORANDUM TO: Chief, Historical Staff, O/DCI
SUBJECT : Major Histories in Process and Planned in the DDP*
The list which follows includes the person(s) responsible
for preparing each history. On most of these many officers are
being debriefed or on request contribute supporting reports.
The years listed are broad approximations since deadlines are not
set. Some writers are working part time and some full time;
others have been given special assignments of higher priority.
Some of these chroniclers have been sent overseas on TDYs; others
have been transferred PCS to stations overseas and their historical
papers have come to a halt. However, I consider this list to
be within reason. It does not include the writers of the numerous
historical monographs with whom I have been working, whose papers
fall outside of the catagory of major histories as delineated
herein.

*A major history for the purpose of this submission is a definitive
chronicle of the clandestine services covering the period
1 October 1945 to 1965 or a designated part thereof. It may
treat a country, branch or major field of responsibility of
a DDP division or staff or cover the division or staff overall.
**A "planned" history is one which has been discussed with the
division or staff chief and/or his Responsible Historical
Officer, the future chronicler has been selected, the chronicler
has discussed the history with the DDP Representative, Historical
Staff and has agreed to write the historical paper.
