TITLE--: The remote control of a repeater station

TEXT: A coding system is described which was used for control of remote
repeater stations. This system was developed by the State Teletrans-
mission Establishment. The remote controlling station governs up to 10
telemetering stations connected into a line, in one direction or in two
opposite directions. The controlling capacity is up to 10 objectives
and 24 signals for each of the 10 remotely controlled stations. For
code transmission, two acoustic lines of 200 and 800 ohms were used. One
line was used for calling and driving the remotely controlled station,
the other for reporting and signalling. Each of the 10 remote stations
can receive 20 commands (on or off for 10 objectives) and return 68 re-
ports. These repor ts refer to the state of the remote station, state of

cable and state of objectives. The coding system employs 25 pulses and
24 spaces. The first part of the code used to call any of the 10 stations

ABSTRACT: The P-decay of He6 has hitherto not been investigated in
a cloud chamber. 'Phe authors inve~:ti~,ated the process
He6 L 16 + P + V + 3.6 !.IeV; "~~he 'talf--life of Li6is 0.8 sec).
The inves ti grat ions were carried cl-ut. fcr the purpose of
simultaneously deterEiinine momentum a.,1:1 energy of P-particles

chamber, which was provided with a rubber membrane that
gave Igood results with: a) hydrogen filling (200 torr), and

results obtained by the investigations are represented by 5

Particle traces were measured on these 120 photographs;
figure A shown the angular cori-elations between electrons
and noutrinoo. Comparison between this distribution and
theoretical calculations carried out by De Groot and Tolhoek
(de-Croot, Tollkhuk) (Ref 2) shows good agreement wit") the
distribution calculated by assumini, tensor interaction between
nucleons and leptons. (The distribution curve, which shows
less good a!.~reement, was calculatel by basing on the assump-

neutrino angular correlation -

TEXT: Some important problems arising with the use of 6the cloud chamber
in measuring the electron-neutrino angular correlation in He beta decay are
discussed. Three possible modes of measuring the 6-0'angular correlation using
the cloud chamber are considered: 1) the measurement of the energy distribution
of recoil nuclei; 2) the measurement of the axigles formed by beta particles and
recoil nuclei when simultaneously measuring the beta particle momenta; 3) the
measurement of the energy of recoil nuclei for a given beta particle energy.
Merits and deficiencies of these modes are analyzed, and their relative accuracy
is apprai.sed. The second mode is shown to be the most reliable. On the basis

of this analysis the results obtained in a previous work (RZhP z, 1958, no. 1,
340) from 'the measurement of the e-0 angular correlation in He beta decay are
revised. For 93 cases left over after a critical revision of all (381) cases,
the coefficient of angular correlation ~, is found to be +0.278+0.243. This
value of A makes it possible to exclude the scalar (A = -1) an-d the vector (A
= +1) interaction between fermions. Owing to the large statistical errors, how-
ever, it has not been possible to choose unambiguously between the axial and the
tensor interaction. The authors renounce the specific conclusion they had
reached In the previous paper regarding the existence of a tensor interaction,
and inform of their intention to continue their studies in this field.

Abstract.: On the basis of their experience and
a study of the 11teratuxe, the authors recommend extension
of the induced hyperpotassemia test in the diagnosis of coro-
nary insufficiency. On the strength of the cases studied,
they find that the accentuation of the negative T waves after
administ-ration of potassium is a sure indication of a coro-
nary; rectified or normalized T waves after the administration
may indicate functional changes or minimal organic lesions.

ABSTRACT: The relations between the abzorption and fluorescence spectra of
,huminescent substances were discussed on the basis of references in the literature
with especial emphasis on the relation described by Stepanov, B. I. (DAN SS�Rp-
vol. 112, 1957, p. 839). Relations between fluorescence spectrum, thermal radiation
spectrum, and quantum efficiency; the effects of extinction, excitation light frequencj v
and solvent on the relations between absorption and emission spect .ra; and relations
between the excited molecules and the liquid medium were investigated to.establish
and extend the validity of the Stepanov relation. The techniques emplQyed ahd the
results obtained in these investigations were presented and diqezusse'd in detail.
