SUBJECT Processing Weekly Report
Tasks Accomplished
1. Testing of JES3 was continued with only minor soft-
ware problems. During this period the system was up for 20
hours without a crash. There is a great need for additional
user testing. STATINTL
2. GAS daily work is being kept up to date using JES3
with no problems encountered.
3. The 360/20 is installed in GE0423 and is being run
in.a production environment. Training for operators is also
under way.
4. Production jobs are being converted to 6250 BPI tap&ATINTL
drives. The VM backup job was among the first converted.
5 New COMTEN software was successfully tested for the
Center. An early June begin date is planned.
Tasks Planned
1. The COMTEN IV is scheduled to go operational on 20 May
in the Special Center. This also requires a new version of
TPSTAR. It will also signal the beginnin of the new Document
Retrieval System using 3770 hardware.

No significant problems to report.

stration 21C Interface Test scheduled for 25 May.

on 19 May. Final demonstration results are not
yet available.

Predict data from NPIC covering a 9 day period was
lost due to incorrect message header format. The
messages will not be retransmitted.

A meeting was held to review the agenda. for
the Pre-proposal Conference. to be held on Thursday, 26 May
1977 in. GA-13, Headquarters. The purpose of this conference
is to respond to written questions which will then have been
received resulting from the review and analysis of the, SAFE
Design Competition REP' (UP-10-77A) by potential bidders. STATINTL
Additional questions will be received at the conference and
written responses to all questions will be submitted to all
potential bidders subsequent to the conference.

Conference have been received from 18 of the 25 potential. STATINTL
bidders for IfiFP-10.77A. Included in the requests ~or attend-
ance is infoimation to obtain the necessary clearances; for
attendees.

c. Several tasks have been. initiated by the SAFE
0 Desi- n Services Support, Contractor,
Preliminary discussions have been held regarding a task
ror analysis of the most recent SAFE user survey conducted by
Systems Analysis Stai'f/OCR. has also been. tasked to develop
a critique of the SAFE Functions Requirements Document. And
they have been asked to present a briefing on, an approach for
the definition of the SAFE Language and the user workstation.
This briefing will be used to evaluate their capabilities versus
other companies' capabilities to perform the SAFE Lan.gwage STATINTL
and User Workstation Definition Task.

a. Progress continues to he made, albeit slow .
However we were informed by the President of that
the Project Manager for RAPID is resigning. The STATINTL
contractor 1-5 taking this opportunity to reorganize the
project team and split the project into two functional areas.
The impact on near term progress may be manifested in further
milestone slippages. Their ability to meet?the upcoming
milestone (revised from 22 April 1977 to 24? June is questionable.

STATSPEC scheduled for 25 May 1977 to discuss plans for finalizing STATINTL
parallel operational procedures (simultaneous operation .of
