REPLY TO
ATTENTION OP,
.Director, Office of Computer Services
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington, DC 20505
In May of this year, I was elected. Vice-President for
the State of Virginia to. the Federal ADP Users Group (FADPUG),
for the Capital Region and as such and the representative to
the Executive Board of FF.ADPUC and the Interagency Co-mm itteee
on Automatic Data Processing for all Federal ADP Users in
Virginia except for the Tidewater Area. The purpose of this
communication is to acquaint you with the organization, its
objectives, and some of the plans for fiscal. year 1973.
FADPUG was established under the general authority and
guidance of the Interagency Committee on AI)P. This was in
accord with the desires of the President as expressed in
a.White House Memorandum of 28 June 1966, and also supports
the requirements of the "Brooks Bill" (Public Law 89-306,
dated 30 October 1965). The purpose of the organization is
to improve the management and use of the Federal Government'.s
ADP resources by:
1. Promoting the sharing and exchange of ideas, ADPE
techniques, ADP systems, applications, and programs among ADP
Managers/Users.
2, Promoting the professional development of ADP
personnel and enhancing the understanding of A.DP, with a
view towards improving the use and management of Federal
ADP Resources.
3. Promoting the development of closer relationships
and better communication among ADP installations.
4. Promoting a better understanding of ADP policies
and guidelines as promulgated by the Central Management
Agencies (OMB Circular A-71).
I'm sure you would agree that the purpose and. objectives
are sound. How does FADPUG proceed to accomplish itc purpose?
Several vehicles are used to include general membership
meetings, special interest group seminars, and the
distribution of literature.
