Abstract : The adherence of pulverized and liquid plant protection
means to leaves of white-blossom Tradescantia, tin foil plates
and granary C-urculionidae was studied. The amount of the pre-

the chemical,-or the biological method.

The above relationships were analysed in .507 cases. No constant correlation was
round between clinical stageand duration 4 symptoms, this indicating a difference
in growth rates and clinical inalignities between neoplasms classilied as being or
the same stage. Correlation between turnour growth rate and patient's age and
menopause was also lacking.

Among 977 women treated in the Oncological Institute o~ Cracow there were 159
cased with malignant and benign turnours of the breast (cystic mastopathy) and
218 cases with neoplasms of other organs. In the first group there were 2 women
with mammary cancer concomitant with cervical cancer, and 215 with erosive
lesions, 5 of them being diagnosed histologically as cervical cancer; the operation
orform,id in 2 wor Pn disclosed metastases of the marnmary cancer to the adnexa.

women with mammary lesions, 12 (1,5816) showed a coexistent turtiour in the
reproductive organ. In the second group the coexistence of cancer in the reproduc-
tive organ was found in I woman out of 218 cases. The analysis ol,' this material
does not warrant an assumption that !he women with mammary cancer show a
higher morbidity from cancer of the reproductive organ, but the possibility of
such coexistence shows the need for gynaecological examinations in women with

TITLE: On the possibility of nonparametric estimation of the reliability ofcomponents of elec-
tronic equipment

TEXT: The reliability estimation of components of electronic equipment is most frequently based on the
assumption of constant failure intensity in time. In this case the parameter V is obtained by the highest pro-
babifity method, which gives both the estimator of the parameter y and the fiducial limits of the reliability
for the chosen confidence level P. The purpose of the paper is to discuss the practical possibilities of nonpara-
metric estimation of the reliability of components of electronic equipment. Employing the Clopper-Gar-
wood identity for the binomial distribution it has been shown that assuming physical homogeneity of the
sample investigated it is possible to obtain the right confidence limits for the reliability of component iri-
respective of the reliability distribution function. The Clopper-Garwood identity is derived in an original
way.The result ofan experimental study of 3 batches consisting of 1000 elements during 1000 and 2000 hours
are reported. Several sample batches of resistors were loaded with 0.5 to 3-01`.,,~j and the times of failures
were recorded. The results of this test show that 75 % of tht failures occurred during the first 40 hours of the
test. In case of the Poisson stochastic process (e.g. exponential reliability law) the results converge to those
obtained by the maximum fikebhood estimation method proposed by Epstein. There arc 6 Egures and 2 tables.

ABSTRACT: The present work was undertaken to determine the reasons for
parameter instability of certain Polish-made germanium junction transistors.
Fabrication defects were fovj~l in the conector-base circuit. The main reason for
inftability was found to be the affect of the absorption of Tiater vapor on the
surface of the semiconductor, which prevented a saturation state in the region of
the reverse characteristic of the p-n junction and caused a reduction of the
breakdown voltage. It is recommended that, when transistors are sealed In a
neutral atmosphere for storage, zeolite molecular sieves be added to absorb water

ABSTRACT: Homogeneity and uniformity of'film are highly i or nt i 'the

manufacture of evaporated film condensers. For this reason, glass was selected
for the expekiments described. A17film deposit:Con presents no problem, having
been discussed in the literature#- ZnS deposition is difficult to manage, and
requires high vacuum and low deposition rates. The material was deposited ,by
being placed in 4 crucible, heated' and deposited through sublimation.
Characteristic curves are presented, including lossof. a function'of frequency,

is 5 X 105 V/cm. The procedure makes miniaturization more feasible, and other--
