MT.-Iffa-M-Meged 13 7
The problem of solving a system of linear equatiuns
over an R-module G is shown to be equivalent to the
problein of extending a hornomorphism of some modulo
At into G to a module NDAI into G. Therefore, if (Y is th@-
minimal injective extemsion of G, any compatible system
(if linear equations over G can be solvild in Cz. If rv@G,
then every compatibl.- system of equationi ovo-r G can lye
solved in G. This is the case, for example, if the ring R is
simple in the classical sense and the module G has no
R-annihilating submodule. Aluch of the paper is devoted
to well-kno%%m properties of injective modules.

Budapest, Acta PhXsiologica Academiae Scientlarum jl@rj@cae, Supplement
to Vol 22, 1963; p 8.
Abstract [Authors' lDriglish Summary, modified]: It has been observed
that after the second Stannius ligature has boon placed ventricular
automatism is revived in but about 40 percent of the cases. Measurement
by microalectrodos of the transmembrane and action potentials has shown
that aL the base of the ventr1clo the transmembrane potential values
are grouped around two maximums. 45-55 mv and 65-75 mV. As opposed to
this, at the apex the values are between 63 and 80 mV in gCv% of the
caso.s. The explAnation of the revival of automatism ia to be sought
in the presence of atrial type fibors among the ventricular muscle
fibers.

Abstract: In order to rationalize pork production in Hungary,
it is recommended to change gradually to the raising
of meat-type hogs, to resort to commercial cross-
breeding, and meat-type fattening of swine. To ac-
complish this, the problem of the protein feed supple-
ment must be first solved. If rations containing
30% barley and 47% corn with the addition of 10% of
bran., 5% of peas and 8% of sunflower cake are used,

"Puerperal Osteomalacia.11
Budapest, Honvedorvos.- Vol XVIII, No 2, Apr-Jun 66, pages 106-116.
Abstract: [Author's Hungarian summary] A case of puerperal osteomalacia
is de ed which had an atypical course and was followed by recovery.
The diagnosis was based on repeated calcium infusion tests and on the
successful vitamin D therapy. The changes in endocrine re@ulatory functions
during pregnancy which are anta@onistic to vitamin D are considered to
have been responsible for the development of the disease. In the present
case, the manifestation of osteomalacia may have been promoted by the pro-
lonaed use of laxatives, the increased loss of calcium during lactation and
a glycocorticoid therapy previous to the pregnancy. According to endocrinol-
ogical studies in the phase of recovery, ovarian function could be con-
sidered normal or decreased. With respect to adrenal function, a low
etiocholanolone/androsterone ratio was found which became normal upon
ACTH administration. On the basis of study of the disease, the author ad-
vocates the opinion of those who consider puerperal osteomalacia as a
special, Independent pathogenic form of the disease. 12 Hungarian, 55
