Abstract : During anasthesia and operation, the quantity of proteins
in blood serum does not fall considerably. In plexus he-
paticus irritation and introduction of adrenalin into
the blood flowing from the liver, a change was noted in
the albumin and globulin proportions in the direction of
albumin increase. Irritation of the "wandering nerve"
does not show any influence on the protein composition
in the blood serum.

The depressor nerves vere transacted in 15 dogs
iinder chloral hydrate aneethesia, and then the common
carotid artery vas compressed every 60 serands; this
procedure produced a rise in blood pressure to 80-120
mm Eg. Hyperthermy vas produced by covering the animals
vith rubber cushiorsthrough vhIch hot vater circulated.
During the induction of hyperthermy to body temperatures
UP to 410 and during the subsequent period of cboling,,
full reflex autoregulation of blood pressure vas observed.
At temperatures of 41 to 420 autoregulation remairsed
adequate during byperthermy, but vas dierapted to a

TITLE: The effect of bone marrow on the regeneration of the
liver in normal and X-ray treatod rats

TEXT: The regeneration of the livbr in ratv is increased by
extr4et of bone mbrrow. On the other hand, irradiated suspension
of bone marrow hn--, a strong inhibitory effect upon liver regenera-
tion. Radiation thera@y of the whole body reduces the regeneration
of the liver, even when the liver region is protected by lead plate.
The inhibitory et'fect is mitip,,jted, if -not prevented, by the admi-
nistration of bone marrow suspension. Bone marrow irradiated In
vitro hao no effect. There are 2 tables.

TITLE: 'Fh-o effect of bone marrow irradiated in vivo and in
vitro on the liver regeneration of rats
PLRIODICAL: Magyar radiologia, no.5, 1962, 293-297
TEXT: Partially hepatectomized rats were exposed to whole-body,
irradiation of 100 to 1000 r. A suspension of in vivo
irradiated bone marrow was prepared front the femurs and tibias
of sonic of the exposed rats. A suspension was also prepared
from bone marrow taken from unexposed animals and irradi.ated in a
test tube. These suspensions were injected into the bones of
healthy animals and their-effects studied. A considerable
decrease was observed in the liver regeneration in rats expos6d
to whole-body irradiation, although their liver region was
,protected by sheet lead; this is attributed to bone marrow
irradiation. Irradiation of bone marrow or injection into the
bones of healthy animals of a suspension of in vivo irradiated
bone marrow inhibits the liver regeneration in proportion with the

dose of exposure. Injection of in vitro irradiated bone marrow
suspension stimulated regeneration provided that the doses did not
exceed 400 r but had an inhibitory effect if the dose was ebove
400 r. The possible usE of irradiated bone marrow for
inhibiting the mitotic process in embryonal or tumour cells will
be the subject of further study. There are I figure and 3 tables.

TITLE: The effect of spleen cell suspension and splenectomy on
the liver regeneration in wholQ-body irradiated rats

TEXT: Partially hepatectomized rats were exposed to irradiation
(500 r) and afterwards intraperitoneally injected with a normal
spleen cell suspension or with one taken from in vitro irradiated
(500 to 1000 r) spleen cells. This was done to determine whether
such a treatment prevents a decrease in the liver regeneration
usually observed after irradiation. Results: Injected normal
spleen cell suspension not only lower" the general mortality
rate but also prevented %,n inhibition or the liver regenerati6n
after irradiation. Splenectomy before irradiation had a certain
protective effect, The irradiated spleen cell suspension did not
produce such a protective effect. Injected spleen cell
suspension did not stimulate the liver regeneration in rats,
although such stimulation was observed in mice. This divergence

ectomized rabbits. It can be demonstrated by the administration of ACTH and
adrenalin that early granulocytosis can be explained by the activation of
the adrenalin-pituitary-adrenocortical system. On the other hand, the late
granulocytosis which can be evoked by larger doses is caused by humoral fac-
tors the production of which proceeds without the pituitary and the adrenals.

Bovine tb bacilli may cause the same manifestations of tb no the human type. No
difference either exists in the severity of the symptoms caused by both types. In
Hungary 6.9 176 of cases arc of bovine origin (4.4016 of pulmonary cases, 36% of
other localizations). Rural people are also exposed to pulmonary infection with
the bovine type. Cattle are infected in roughly 20% (in some villages up to 40.6%).
Eradication of bovine tb by means of organizational and economic measures should
be undertaken.
