Abstract A study was conducted on potato ensilage with an admix-
ture of 5 and 10% of clover, and ensilage without admix-
tures. An increase in the nimber of yeast cells and the
concentration of reducing substances in the course of
fermentation 1A stimulated by the addition of clover.
No correlation was found between the concentration of re-
ducing subst&qces and the number of yeast cells. 10
strains of Saacharomyces sP-, 5 strains of Torulopsis
and 16 strains of Mycoderma were isolated from the ensila-
ge.

ABSTRACT: The author suggests a method for the design of side-hill drainage
trenches which takes into account the continuous water runoff from
the ground above the trench. This continuity is taken into account
by the introduction of a correction factor into the value of the rough-

A Practical Method for the Design of Side-hill Drainage Trenches

son is presented of the design of trenches by the usual method and in accordance
with the method suggested in the paper tinder review, The depths in the giveri Sec-
tions are somewhat greater when arrived at accordmg to the method suggested by
the author than when calculated in the usual manner, Taking into account a greater
accuracy in the determination of the water depths in side-hill drainage trenches,
the author suggests a decrease of the permissible height of the berm of the ditch
over the calculated horizon to 0. 15 m (instead of 0. 25 m provided in the technical
specifications for the design of railroads),

1 ABSTRACT: A method is described for isolating passive components, such as
phosphorus, from common wafers used in integrated semiconductor circuits. The
method is based on the planar diffusion of separated n-regions and the inhibition
of leakage in the inversion layer, between the n-regions, through a p+ network.
Diffusion was effected in an open quartz tube at 1050'C�I'C for 30 min. After a
prediffusion layer was formed, the specimens were washed in distilled water,.
using ultrasound to enhance the cleansing process. The met'hod makes it possible
to obtain diffusion layers with a surface concentration of 9. 1015 to 2. 1018 CM-3
