MONTHLY HIGHLIGHTS REPORT
Special Security Center
December 1975
1. The Compartmented Information Branch has assessed the
operation of the SPECLE II System and found that its dependability
was such that OJCS was asked to cease operation of the SPECLE I
system as of COB 4 December 1975. This changeover will result in
a savings of $20,000 per month.
2. On 8 December a member of the SSC traveled to Boston,
Massachusetts where he briefed certain members of the JFK Library
and at the same time reviewed their physical storage requirements.
3. A member of the SSC presented a two hour seminar to the
New Agent's class at th on 8 December.
4. A member of the SSC has, during December, given full-time
duty to the Task Force, USIB, to study compartmentation.
5. The Compartmented Information Branch, during December,
deleted 2,580 names from the SPECLE computer and added 2,898 names
bringing the total number of names in SPECLE to- on record
at the end of December 1975. There were 1,312 cable actions and
53 briefings and debriefings conducted by CIB personnel. Nineteen
(19) SPECLE computer hard copy reports were supplied to various
intelligence community customers during December.
6. Ninety-four (94) CIA employees and 57 non-CIA persons were
briefed on various compartmented programs. The largest non-CIA
customer in December was the Justice Department with 18 persons
being indoctrinated on various compartmented matters. Other agencies
