Colloidal particles of iron of single dowain structure were produced by electrolytic deposition on a mercury cathode. Analysis of the results obtained when the electrolytic bath was fed from a rectifier, a d.c. generator and an accumulator showed that the greatest ratio of Br to the saturation magnetic field intensity He was obtained in powders deposited by a steady, non-pulsating current at a density of about 20 mA/cm2. The saturation field He and Br were measured by placing a test tube containing the amalgam (314 Fe) in a magnetometer. He reached 500 oersteds. For the reverse motion of the valves, hair springs are used which simultaneously control both the two intake and the exhaust valves. The latter are -interconnected by a connecting bridge supporting the ar,tuating. parts of the two hair springs in the direction of the reverse motion of the valve. [PV) SUB CODE:. 21/. Abstract; The computation method of alcohol losses at the filling of tanks in results of driving out air saturated with alcohol vapors from them is de- soribed taking into consideration the alcohol strength and the pressure and the temperature of the vapors. A yearly loss of 249.5 decal- iters of water-free alcohol was computed for a rectification installation of a yearly produc- tivity of 450,000 decaliters of rectified water- Card 1/2 12 POLAND / Chemical Technology, Chemical Products and H Their Application, Part 3. - Fermentation Industry. In order to decrease the alco- hol losses, it is recommended to connect all the air containing spaces in alcohol collect- ors with an alcohol trap and to tighten all the connections of the collectors according to attached schemes at the same time. An un- derground explosion is one Of BU~ficiently intensive sources of elastic waves for field experiments. Thq area nearest to the source is the shat- tered zone, where irreversible destructive processes occur. Originally strong amplitudes of pressure waves decrease toward the outer boundary of this zone under elastic limit of the medium, and the disturbance material- izes in the form of elastic waves. The measurable plastic zone must be as- sumed in plastic materials like sand, loam, etc. The piezophotographic method was applied during underground explouions of s1herical charges of high explosives. Prellminary results show, that the piezophotographic meth- od can be applied for detailed investigation of presoure wave amplitudea near intensive sources in real media. The change in the velccity gradient at this depth cannot be explained entirely by the change in density, or by the macroscopically noticeable change'in the composition of the rock. Rather, it shows a correlation with the bcundary (interface) between two geological structures which constitute the rock, called the Sadecky and the Tremoshensky graymacke; the boundary layer is rich in hematite. The geological characteristics of the rock are given. It is noted that the depth dependence Av/Ap for the given samples was obtained through measurements of Card 1/2 ACC NRt AT6016646 -5- dependence of elastic wave on one-sided pressure. In turn, these measurements have demonstrated that the elastic anisotropy caused by the rock stratification and shown in upper strata is diminishlng with increased pressure, i.e., in line with the in- creasing depth. The bcst dolomites for refractory linings in the manufacturing process of pig iron and steel are ankerite dolomites containing4% of Fe203 and nbout 2.5% OfSiO2, with a softening tcmpeniture of 1280-1300'C. The harder dolomites, i.e. those richer in silicates and poorer in iron oxides, are used in building and also as the support under asphalt roads and railways. The production of raw and burned dolomite should be ahead of the production of pig iron and steel. The needs of Poland's metallurgical industry. which in 1965 will produce 7,000,000 tons of pig iron, will be met by modernizing its old dolomite plants and by building new ones.
