In alloxan diabetes compensatory processes which usually develop after smzklldv.,-~
ofadrenaline (1:10,000) in non-diabetic animals and which enhance the firmness of
scars, do not occur. Large doses of adrenaline (1:2000) which inilibit healing and
reduce the strength of scars can be compensated bya suitable dose of insulin 0. 5 1:. 1
100 g. Simultaneous administration ofa dose ofadrenaline (1:2000)and a large dose
of insulin (1.0 U. ) causea deterioration of wound healing or even death. The role
of insulin in compensatory processes is discussed.

hbstract [Author's English suimaryi. The influence on the penetration
of- hyalorodinase in auto and homoplastic skin grafts in rabbits was
studied. In both kinds of grafts the penetration is greater than in
noriual skin. In au~otransplants it is highest on the third day and
the,,i in falls to normal. In homotransplants it is higher in the first
riiys than in autotransplants and keeps on rising till the time when

The action of Vign~-vski's block oil the course of the inflammaticiii was studied by
means of the different permeation of hyaluronid-ase which was injected into the
rabbits intradernially. Tile hyalui-onidase scatter was used as a test for the sym-
pathetic or parasympathetic preponderance in the inflamed tissue. The inflarnma-
tion of the skin was caused by varying degrees of temperature. If burning was
preceded by a 0.2576 procaine block a temperature of 75*C. iiihibited tile scatter
of hyaluronidase compared with a control group without block. A temperature of
100*C. caused a rise in the scatter when compared with the control site as well

The influence of sympathecto-ny and division of the sciatic nerve on the Shwartz-
man reaction in the hind limb of rabbits has been observed. Sympathectomy pre-
vious to injection lowered the intensity of the reaction. as compared to the control
side. On the other hand, sciatic section increased the reaction. The mechanism of
this is discussed.

Abstract : A study was made of the effects of nodule-forming bacteria
on the crop and on N accumlation in alfalfa, lupine, sara-
delle, peas in sandy, sundy loan, alluvial soils, podzolic
loan,, loeus and chernozem in vegetation experinents. With
bacterization, the alfalfa especially in sandy, sandy loam
soils and loess produced the greatest gains in crop and N.
The pea crop was raised only on sandy loam soil and pod-
zolic loam, of lupine in all soils, saradelle ii-, podzol
loam and especially in alluvial soil. It is noted that the
dimensions, forr.,is, arrangement, coloration of the ri-.~ot

A13STRACT: The present paper was submitted at the VII All-Union Con-
ference on the Chemistry of Complex Compounds at Leningrad
on October 119 '1956. The behavior of acid-basic -.omplex com-
pounds and the solvatation equilibria in aqueous solutions
of ammoniacates and amminen of metal was investigated. The

TEXT: Using spark discharge energized by An w r-2 (IG-2)
generator (14 kVI 0.02 IiF, appr6x. 10 jill), operating at
,atmospher-ic pressures, the broadening and the shift of 12 lines
.of Ne II and 22 lines of Kr II were measured. The results were
very similar to those found during the earlier measurements of
the Ar II and He I lines by the present aVthors (ZhETF, 36, 1959,
1329; Izv. AN SSSR, ser. fiz., 23, 1959, 1017; -Tr. FIAN, 15,
1961, 55). The lines were divided into three groups. The first

in which the shift did not exceed 0.5 cnl- , which were of
2 to 3 cm- I width having a width to shift ratio -1 R = 5 to 10.
The second group comprised lines with I to 3 cm shift and with
4 to 6 cm-1 broadening where R = 2 to 4. 1 *The third group
included lines with a shift of 4 to 5 cm- and broadening of
8 to 10 cm-l' giving the lowest R = 2 to 2.5. The tables which

ABSTRACT: The purpose of the present work was to determine to what extent the wave-
length of the lines of highly ionized atoms are sensitive to the electron concentra-
tion in plasma. Accordingly, there were carried out measurements of the broadening
and wavelength of the lines of a number of tons in spark sources (the only type
yielding a sufficiently hot plasma) with greatly different electron densities. Spe-
cifically, there were measured the widths and frequencies of the spectrum lines of
Al 111, Si 111, Si IV and Sn IV in spark discharges in air. The electron doncentra-
tion was varied by varying the parameters of the spark generator. One spark unit

(IG-2 spark unit) yielded an oscillatory discharge, while the other yielded a pow(r-
ful aperiodic dischar e. The discharge voltage in both cases was 14 W; the elec-
tron densities per cmg were estimated as 1.5 x 1017 and 6 x 1017. The spectra were
re orded by means of a DFS-3 diffraction grating spectrograph with a dispersion of
2 �/mm. The wavelength of the lines corresponding to several transitions in the en)r
merated ions are tabulated. Comparison shows that the lines shift by as much as 1 A
in going from one discharge condition to the other; also the recorded wavelengths
differ from the tabulated values, but there is no consistent regularity in the va-
riation. In addition to change in the wavelength of the lines, significant changes
in the line width were observed in going from one discharge condition to the other.
The line broadening was attributed mainly to the quadratic Stark effect on the bas-
is of theoretical evaluations. There is linear correlation between the line width
and shift. It is concluded that for constructing level diagrams for highly ionized
atoms one should not use direct experimental results but the results of series of
measurements with extrapolation to "zero" electron density. Unperturbed lines can
be obeerved in modern "hot plasma" Installations with an electron density of 1013-
1014 cm-3, but in such Installations the lines may be shifted to same extent due to

TEXT: The author investigates the influence of the outer flow upon the
turbulence of the boundary layer in the-flow-throughisection of a turbine.
Starting with the experimental results obtained by the National Bureau of
Standards /Ref 21 which prove a close relation between the friction stress
and the so-called "turbulent pressure", the analysis of the effect of the
initial turbulence upon the boundary layer is conducted with the aid of
Karman's relation. Calculation formulas are given. There are 5 graphs,
1 photograph, and 4 Soviet references.

ABSTRACT: The dislocationistructure ofj'~old-rolled molybdenum (con-
taining about 0.1% zirconiumi-and 0.2% titanium),4ias been investigated
by 1~ Co rolled molybde"m sheet 0. '.1/mm thick was reduced
to a foill by el(~~t~kqlytic poli~hingf~in a 90% solution of 112S04- The
structure of cold-rolled molybdenum was made up of subgrains, mostly
of elongated shape, separated from each other by dislocation walls or
networks. The dislocation density within subgraina was relatively low.
In addition to the usual'structure of cold-rolled metals$ there wers,
some extended structural formations resembling grain or subgrain jl~
boundaries, These formationa are assumed to be boundaries located in
