PIIARMACO- DYN. 1958, 115/1-2 (114-130) Graphs 10 Tables 6 ;rhe cyclopEopyl-, cyclobutyl-, cyclopentyl-. cyclohexyl-, and cycloheptylamides of D-lysergic acid were tested pharmacologically and compared with lysergide (LSD) and ergometrine. Marked oxytoxic activity was demonstrated in vitro and in vivo on the rabbit uterus. These compounds had potent antiserotonin properties, when tested In vitro on the Intectine or uterus of the rat. A strong mydriatic effect was demonstrated In mice. All drugs evoked a rise in body temperature in rabbits and a rise of short duration followed by a prolonged fall in body temperature In mice. The effect on skin colour in green frogs was similar to the adrenaline effect. Blood pressure was not significantly altered in anaesthetized rabbits and dogs and in unanaesthetized dogs. 'Toxic doses produced effects similar to thoue of amphet- amine in mice. rabbits and dogs. It is postulated that these drugs produce a centrai adrenergic effect without direct peripheral vasoconstriction. Goth - Dallas,Tex. A* -y EXCERPTA YiDICA Sec 2 Vol 13/5 Fhyai~Ios Yay 63 251)4. The five a'eicholinergics c*bs'len were cyclically substituted esters of acetic acid vith 2-substituted ethanol, viz. two ternary amine derivativeB, two quaternary amine derivatives and one sulZonium derivative. The in vitro experiments were carried out vrith an isolated stomach and uterus of a rat, w1icre- as the in vivo tests comprised the scrotonin-induced oedema of the rat's paw, and the local effect of serotonin after intradermal admin- istration.
