The results of these investioations are given here. At first the operation principle of the three-sta.6e amplifier is given and by the example of a fourpole machine it is shown, how the amplification stages are formed in a three-stage amplifier. In the second part a comparative evaluation between the three-stage amplifier with longitudinal field and a two-stage Card 1/3 amplifier is carried out. On the streneth of the given Comnarinnn of -nd Thru~;-S'Uq;c.- Roto-trols 105- 58-3-2/31 experimental data it is shown that in the case of one and the same magneto system, of approximately equal weight of the effecLive materialsp of one and the same & - and i y- the velocity increase of the electromotive force at the output of the three-stage amplifier is hiehor by the two- to 2)5 fold than in the case of a two-stage amplifier, 6 is the compensation degree of the armature reaction by the compensatin,v current i24 between the brushes 2-4 in the amplifier a3,mature. On the other hand, the three-stage amplifiers in comparison to the two-stage amplifier are more inclined toward fluctuations and toward self-excitation which is due to the increase of the total amplification factor and the phase lagging. The three-stage amplifier has a somewhat simpler system compared to the two-stage amplifier, Comprisingly it is said that the three-stage amplifier in the case of one and the same control output is more quickly effective compared to the two-stage amplifier and that in the case of one and the same quick effect the three-stage Card 2/3 amplifier is controlled by a lower output. Amplidynes are classified according to the operating principles of the amplifier and its service properties. It is advisable to make an additional assessment of the dynamic properties of the amplifiers by determining the maximum rate of voltage increase and delay time, as shown in the figure, where tan a is the maximum rate of rise of voltage and t3 in the delay time. It is advisable to assess the initial part of the transient process by introducing the speed response. This is the differential coefficient of the output magnitude of the Card 1/4 ? S/196/62/000/004/019/023 Methods of assessing the operating E194/EI55 amplifier and is equal in order to the number of cascades of amplification. The frames of high-speed amplifiers should be laminated because the use of a solid frame considerably impairs the dynamic properties of the amplifier and the rate of rise of voltage is approximately halved. if the amplifier has different numbers of pole-pairs in different stages of amplification, additional means can be used to increase the speed by altering the structural components. To improve the quality of railway automatic equipment it is advisable to extend the types and properties of amplidynes and to develop an amplifier for combined d.c. and a.c. using semiconductors. 15 figures, 3 literature references. On the invitation of S.P.Polimbetov, Chairman of the Council of National Economy (Soviet narodnogo khozyaystva), a large group of professors and instructors including I.I.Bok, A.S.Geskin, A.V.Brichking V.D.Ponomarev, B.N.Lebedev, and others, is participating in the work of the Sovnarkhoz Economic- Technical Council. The institute again aroused the Sovnarkhozes interest for its needs. For the purpose of rendering scientific and technical help to the Sovnarkhoz enterprises, the institute's chairs are conducting considerable researches. At the Tekeli Polymetal Card 1/4 Mine (Tekeliyakiy polimetallicheskiy rudnik) the highly Connections With the Sovnarkhoz are Getting Stronger 3-1-2/32 of the Karaganda Sovnarkhoz (Karagandiniskiy sovnarkhoz), and so, for example, for the Karaganda Coal Combine tKaragandinskly ugollnyy kombinat)., the gomplex theme: Discovering rational methods for the exploitation of thin and medium width layeren is being elaborated (supervisor - Professor, Doctor A,S. Popov). The institute has also a contract with the Balkhash Copper Works (BalMshekiy ma,Japlavilinyy zavod)iof the Karaganda Sovnarkhoz. The contract covers elsotrosmelt- Ing of copper concentrates. Preliminary laboratory tests have-yielded eimoouraging results. The institute instructors have offered to the Kounrad Mine (Kounradsk:fy rudnik) - one of the lirgest enterprises of the Kar&ganda Sovnarkhoz to set-up a device for thermal drilling of explosive bore holes and an automatic charger for mecha- nizing the process of charging the holes with explosives. This equipment is being manufactured at the mine and will be Introduced into production later. At the Dzhezkazgan Mine (Dzhezkazganskiy rudnik) of the same sovnarkhoz the new method of drifting upward has already been introduced. The results of the experimental delayed and instant blasting operations are compared in the form of tables. The author studies the yield of various rock sizes and their variations; the results of these studies are illustrated by graphs. The author reaches the following conclusions: A better crush- ing of the ore can not be obtained by shortly delayed blasting. Reduction of labor consumption in stoping operations can be obtained by decreasing the diameter of blast holes to 70 mm, and increasing the conditional lump size to 800 mm. The introduction of a 100 cu m scraper could double labor pro- Card 1/2 ductivity. Vestnik, no. 12, 1966, 43-Q TOPIC TAGS: chemical WCD1031ong underground explo3ionp explosive charge ABSTRACTt In present-day experimental studies on models made of synthetic materialp efforts are made to determine the qualitative characteristics of the destruction of rocks by explosions. On the basis of the mechanical characteristics of the eauiva- lent material employed, the explosive commonly used in laboratory explosions consistal, of 16% mercury fUlminatet 55.5$ potassium ohlorate and 28.5% antimony. An attempt was made to determine the power of this explosive mixture relative to industrial explosives. This was done as follows: first, by measuring the seismic vibrations, a certain fraction of energy was determined for the explosive studied and for an indus--- trial explosive (I g Tetryl + 0.5 g mercury fulminate, a mixture used in the ED-8-56 i electric detonator), whose energy was determined from existing formdas, The com- parison method was then employed. This involved measuring the seismic vibrations from the explosive whose energy was knovnp then the vibrations from the explosive 1/2 ACC NRs AP7007210 whose energy was unknown, Finallyq the energy of the seismic wave was calculated for. maximum values (obtained from osoillograms) of both explosion3p and the ratio of these energies was taken. It was found that the 6XPlOSiVO Composition used for laboratory tests is 20.5 times weaker than the mixture used in the ED-8-56 electric i detonator, mid 10-12 times weaker than ordinary widerground amonites (No* 69 79 eta.). Since the time of Newton there existed difficulties in explai- ning and formulating correctly the term "power". With the development of the sciences during the recent years these difficulties have become even greater. Thp Academician, B,N.Yarlywr is quoted from his book "Att4nyted new Formulation of the Basic Laws on Mechanics by Newton", Printing Office Academy of Sciences (USSR) Card 112 1952. But these new theories have had no influence on Letter to the Editor SOV/128-59-6-23/25 the practical work of the engineer. In the field of centrifugal casting B.I. Loshkarev has written an article (published in Liteyroye Proizvodstvo, Nr 8 1957), in which he made the iollowing statement: 1) Me- tal is not influenced by centrifugal force andq there- fore, the existing theories on centrifugal casting, based on centrifugal forces, do not correspond to the physical properties of the process. 2) The theory of centrifu al casting is not confirmed by his experi- ments; 3~ The factors of centrifugal casting are to be explained by other factors, like: tendency forces, speed of chilling, temperature of the metal, process of crystallization, The authorarefute the statements of Loshkarev and call hie comprehensions "unintelli- gible" and "unfounded". There are 1 diagram and 9 Soviet references.
