ABSTRACT: This investigation was motivateil by the growing evidence
that the statistical theory cannot explain multiple production pro-
ceases in either pion proton or proton proton collisions. The nega-
tive pion beam frcm the -ITHF proton synchrotron was momentum-
analyzed
by a deflecting niagnett collimated, and dixected to a
liquid-bydrogeri
bubble chamber of 25 cm diameter, placed in a 14 kOe field.

are presented. For the reaction 7r- + p -0 V + 7T + n there were

in favor of the on-m-pion exchange mechanient. A hypothesis is ad-

Abstract In order to as.certain thc depth of beds in gas
wells,
the sound measuring method is used whereby the sound
velocity is calculated according to the temperature
and the chemi i1 composition of the gas with the use
of formulae presented by the author. 4 references

PERIODICAL: Energetik, 1958, Nr 9, PP '150-31 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: To chock the possibility oj' testing ET-562
relays with nor-
mal, transportable boiler -:rarsformers, a study was mode of
the effect of connecting ohmic resietances in series with
the load in the secondary winding of the transformer. Three
different types of boiler I;ransformers'were used for the
experiments. The resultant characteristic current curve
was studied with an EO-6 citthode oscilloscope. Results
show that boiler transformers irtay be used for testing ET-
561 relays by connecting art additional resistance into the
secondary winding, if the capacity of the transformer is
not less than 250 w. A trE.nsformer with a secondary voltage
36 v is most ouitable. it Ehould give the least possible er-
ror in the relay operating current and should give the most
correct characteristic current curve, as viewed on a cathode
oscilloscope. There are 2 tables and 2 waveforms.

ABSTRAU'D The effoot of various grourn of hydrocarbons on the
vil293ity of-P-ffi diesel
oil (SU machine oil) was studied at lo~ temperatures. The groups
were separated from
the SU distillate chromatographictlly on ASK iiilica gel. The
visoooity and aolidifica-
tion points of the aromatio hydrocarbons increase with their
cyclic character. It was
found that the removal of &21 tars &a" approximately 30-W% of
heavy aromatic hydrc-
carbons from the distillate of SU machine oil gives the required
content of the vari-
ous hydrocarbon groups in the oil, so that tho desired viscosity
in obtained at -200C.
In ordar to obtain this hy1rocarbon composition in the oil, the
distillate of SU ma-
clAns oil must be subjected to a more thorough purification. The
vircoaity of D-8 die-
sel oil at low tbmpbraturas can also be improved by decreasing
its viscosity at 1000011
when the viscosity is decreased from 8.4 to T,5 cS at 1000r, tha

f hLiary systems. Part 1.
PeriodiMi Zhur. 0b. Khiml'~ Ztv Ed. 5a 799 092, May.1954
Abstract~ The viscosity of five binary 53steme was citleulated in
accordance
with the G. M.'Panchenkov formula. 'The catculated data obtai-ied were'
in perfect confi'5mity with the oxperimentalvalues. A bond energy-
composition dia0am was preparel. The presence of naxina. on the
bond en(,rgy-t;om;osition-curve confirms the presence of a chemical
resction betweenthecomponents, The boni tnergy-composition-curves,
arched toward the axis'of the atecissa, indicates the absence of a
chemical reaction, Four USSR references. 'Nbles, graphs.
