SUBJECT NIO/EAP Participation in Academic Relations
1. Under H. NFAC People Teaching at Academic
Institutions, I should be listed. I taught at Johns
Hopkins SAIS for 12 weeks starting in February 1978.
2. On January 11, I attended a conference sponsored
by the Carnegie Endowment at which Ambassador Underhill
spoke on US policy towards Southeast Asia. On 14 February,
I spoke at the National War College on developments in
East Asia. On 21 March, I participated in sessions
sponsored by the Japan Foundation at Brookings Institute
on the role of Japanese business in determination of
Japanese policies. On 6 April, I attended a meeting
at Woodrow Wilson Center on international events on the
Korean Peninsula. On 13 April, I chaired a conference on
Japan at SAIS. On 14 April, I attended a Japan seminar at
Columbia University. That meeting was given over to a
retrospective view of Japanese/American financial
negotiations in 1972. On 19 April, I attended a meeting with
Professor Yoshliko Se.ki at George Washington University.
On 26 April, I attended a meeting on the Japanese economy
at the Asia Society. On 2 May, I attended an academic
meeting with Professor Sazanomi at the Brookings Institute
on the Japanese economy. On 25 May, I participated at a
meeting on the Korean problem in US foreign policy at the
Woodrow Wilson Center.
