N.-i. gornorudn. in-t, 1957, Nr 3, pp 58-66 ABSTRACT: A presentation of methods for determining the permeability coef ficients of individual water-bearing horizons exploited by a common well without provisions for mutual insulation of reservoirs. The authors base their reasoning on the fact that natural aquifer horizons are completely isolated from each other by heavy, impervious layers and that the only hydraulic connection between them is that provided by the wells. The yield of a well is regarded to be equivalent to the algebraic sum of the yields of the separate horizons. In their compu- Card 1/2 tations the authors make use of Dupuy's equations. The calculation SOV/ 124- 58-10-11336 Methods of Determination of the Permeability Coefficient (cont.) equations are based upon the following considerations: The first equation ema- nates from the condition that drilling operations are halted and the resulting steady- state water level is measured after penetration of each water-bearing horizon. Two other equations are set up on the basis of two separate pumping operations with different yield from the horizon being considered. After the hydraulic character- istics of a given horizon have been determined, the drilling operations are contin- ued until the next horizon is reached, Water level measurements and the two Sep- arate pumping operations make it possible to obtain three equations from '~;-!'Ich th hydraulic characteristics of a given water-bearing hcrizon may be determined. An example is given showing the computation of the permeability coefficient of three separate water-bearing horizons. V.A. Vasiliyev Card Z12 ~, NOTAROV. V.D. Nr 11, pp 2a~-27 (USSR) ABSTRACT: The existing method for ralintor unil. molding, by moans of bottom pressing to a process that requires the ex- penditure of much labor. Thus, a c-rew consisting of 4 molders and 1 fitter can produce, on the average, only 60-75 three-utilt molds in the cour3e of one hour. In order to opef~d LIP this process.. the 11IITAvtoprom has tinoertaken experimental research on molding radiator unit'3 by mertn~', of an aut.omatic sandblast--,~re.,-,sing ma- chine. The process of molding with the experimental machine encompasses the following operations-. setting gagrgers and core sockets; setting the empty mold box on the filling frame; ciampinry the i,,joj'd box airallnot the b-'owing--4,n niate, filling., she mold and the frame Card 112 with moldlng mixture from the sandblas. tank, perfor- 3 OV/1 2 P I I - 12,12 4 Experlments in Automatic Radiator MIcId-,rig ming thi.- bottom underpreon-Ing: lowerint, the mitchlln'~' ta- ble; broaching 'U'be inod~-l from the mold; and removal of the finished half mold. Research has shown that it ta- kes 15 seconds to produce a four-.unit mold, 67 x '75 cm in zcjize. Thus, the productivity of sandblast-pressing machine can be brought up to 240 half molds an hour. The author analyzes the individual operations performed during the process of exp,~rimentation and gives perti- nent granhs and diagrams, There are ') graphs, 1 diagram and 2 photograph.
