ABSTRAC`r: The authors have Investigated the response of solid state radiation de-
tectors to short X-ray pulses with intensities up to 109 orr./ca2 sec. The x-ray
equipment has been doscribed elsewhere (A.A.Ltfkvishov, ZhTF 31,1262,1961); It pro-
vided 10-7 see pulses ot 30 to 1100 WV x-rays with a mean pul" intensity of a x
x 107 erg/C=2 sec at 1 a from the anode. The Intensity at the detector was varied
by varying the tube-to-datector distance. Type p-n germanium and types p-n and p-i-
