Abstract: (English articlej The suprarenal cortex is an Inportant factor
In the development of irradiation injuries in view of Its great significance
in the general resistive power of the organism and Of its considerable
sensiUvIty to ionizing effects. The function of tho suprarenal cortex 4n
albino rats was determined from a nmmber of Indices. some of them of an
indirect character. The @.Verlments were carried out on 176 animals of both
sexes with initial body weight of 220-160 go The conditions of irradiation
were as follows: 180 W, ZO M, filter 0.5 = Cu, R 40 co. do3G strength
112.7 rJoin. Thirty-seven of the 4-1 radloprotocted rats (60.4) remained
alive on the 90th day after irradiation. At that time the animals were In
good condition and some of then even had progeny. An analysis of the results
shows that roentgen Irradiation with 800 r causes changes in the functional
condition of the suprarenal cortex of albino rats, nmely, an Increas@ at the
height of the disease and Inhibition before death. Besides that, contradictory
changes are observed in the biochemical indices (K/Ma. ascorbic a,:id, 17-15,

ABSMACTs Axial stresses set up In pipowark by taiporsturs and pressure
c"sd dangerous stresses therein &ad also act upon the fixed
supports. These stresses and forces may be reduced by the us* of
U-shapod pipswork compensators. Firmulae are given for calculating
the stresses in compommators, and the forces at supports. The main
difficulty in making the calculati,sas is to determine, the gometrical
parsmaters of the referred axis of the pipswork. Form lae
applicable to a U-shaped bond are "then offered; they are claimed
to be accurate and universal in roqpoct of both compensator shape
