BSTRACT: The dimensions of the hexagonal cell of U 0 were measured
and the thermal stability of U,)O,- was doterminod. Tga5hexagonal cell
size was established: a = 6-8t4-'+ 0-001 kX and c = 4.118 + 0.001 kX.
The composition of the hexagonal phase of U 205 obtained at low
temperatures varies within the range U02 UO 2 61* U205 'a
Idisproportionated at temperatures above I ?0C to 2 ~-nases: hexagonal
land cubic. At temperatures of 145 - 1700C hexagonal U308 and cubic
IIUO are formed; and at 800 - 10000C, hexagonal U 08-x o0 cubic 1T409,

ABSTRACT: The thermal decomposition of the fcrmates of lanthanum, cerium,
praseodymium, noodymium, and samarium was investigated. The
formates have the fol:owing composition: La(HCO 2)5t Ce~'HCC2

of the decomposition curves obtained the formates of rare
earths were divided into two groups: first group - those of
lanthanum and cerium; second group - those of praseodymium,
neodymium, and samarium. The thermal decomposition of the
lanthanum and cerium takes place in two stages with the for-
mation of an intermediate product of unknown composition. In
the thermograms of the lanthanum formate the followinf effectii

A new treatnent of hirrian carious teeth by means of pure chemicals without any use of
drills etc. has been tried. A 10% solution of lactic acid was used for etching and
softeninp the carious cavities. kfter excavation the bottoms of the cavities were dried
and neutralized with a bicarbonate solution and then filled in the ordinary way with
cemeents and amalgams. Re-examination 12-18 months later only showed very few cases of
