A de- tailed description in the experimental part explains the syn'thesis of these copolymers. The effect of the content of dimethacrylamidodimethyl ether in copolymers containing methylmethacrylate on tensile strength, elongation, specific viscosity, and modulus of elasticity at 200C has been studied. Results show that the tensile strength of copolymers in- creases when adding 4-5 mole,% dimethacrylamidodimethyl ether. If this amount is further increased, a sharp decrease in strength occurs. Visco- sity first increases with an addition of dimethacrylamidodimethyl ether, reaches a maximum, and declines again with a further addition, while the Card 1/2 86325 Synthesis and Properties of Methylmethacrylate S11901601002101210121C19 Dimethacrylamidodimethyl Ether Copolymers B017/BO78 modulus of elasticity remains unaffected. TITLE: Formation conditions and structure of dimers obtained by the bulk polymerization of chloroprene PERIODICALt,--Vysokomolekulyarnyye soyedineniyaj.v- 4P no. 8, 1962, 1145-1150 TEXT: The polymerization of chloroprene in the presence of peroxides or tetraalkyl Thiuram diaulfide with sulfur at 50 - 550c, and the.effect of individual factors on the formation of dimers, -were studied. Theformation rate and the dimer-to-polymer ratio increase when the polymerization tpmperature rises. Dimers are the main products obtained in the presence of inhibitors. Increasing the degree of polymerization to >70% brings down the relative amount of the resulting dimers to 4 - 5%. The high molecular polymerization of chloroprene in the presence of tetramethy~ thiuram disulfide yielded dimers, of which 65% have the structure of 1,5-dichlorocyclooeta-1 -diene, whilst 12% were 4-(I-chlorovinyl)-l- ,5 chlorocyclohexene. The structure was determined by oxidation, ozonolysia, and hydrogenation at 200C in the presence of platinum black,'ylelding a Card 1/2 S/190/62/004/008/003/016 Formation conditions and.*.. B117/B144 product with the physioochemical constants of'cyclooctane. The structure of the latter was confirmed by oxidation with nitric acid yielding suberic acid. The prevailing formation of 6-membered dimers wan explained by the stabilization of the primary 8-membered cyclic compl6x owing to an increase in viscosity of the medium during polymer formation, and owing to the absence of catalytic inhibitors. TITLE: Expansion Coefficient Measurements of NaC1, LiV, KC1, and KBr by the Flotation Method (Izmereniye koeffitsiyentov rasshireniya NaCl, LiF, KCI, KBr flotatsionnym metodom) PERIODICAL: Zhurnal tekhnicheakoy fiziki, 1958t,\Nr 8, pp 174o - 1747 (USSR) ABSTRACT: In this paper a detailed description is presented of the technique of measuring the expansion coefficients of salt crystals according to the flotation method. The application of floaters for the determination of the temperature coefficient of the density P of a fluid is suggested. This method is based upon the measurement of the temperature difference of the flotation of two floaters kept in the fluid to be inves- tigateo and in a control fluid, the P of which is known4 The room temperature expansion coefficients Yk of NaCl, KCI, KBr, LiF were measured. The reproducibility of the measurements is as high as 0#5 - 1%. This is in accordance with the estimation of the accuracy of this method presented by Card 1/2 Konstantinov and Ryskin in reference 1. The measured values -A. Expansion Coefficient Measurements of NaCl, LiF, KC1,an1 SOV/57-58-8-22/37 KBr by the Flotation Method of Yk agree satisfactorily with most recent interferometric and X-ray analysis measurements of the expansion coefficients of the respective salts. '['he temma is stated ilia t tivo polylivira of the --ime local tylx3 pu6si!ds a corunion I UYVI'Vig surface. A polyhedron is called completely regular if it Ldmits aLitumorphismi carrying ai arbitrary face into any other in each of 21n distinct ways- ft seems very likely that the polyhedra must be thought cf as manifolds endowed with a hyrj-2rbolic, Euclidean, or elliptic metric: this is nowhere explicitly stated. It is shown that there are only a finite numbei of regular polyhoira lying on a giv-.-n surface of nonvanishing characteristic: the infinitely many possible types belonging to the torus and the Klein surface are completely described. The principal too] is the character of a factor group appearing in a na' tural way in the covering surface (elliptic, Euclidean, or hyperbolic) associated with the polyhedron. 'L. Zippir.
