Two techruques were tested in animal experimer*L: (1) Painting of Lhe necrotic
intestine and its surrourdings with a O.V'~ rnothylene blue soluuor, The ulye is
absorbed by normal tissue through the lymph tracts in approxrnately 2 m In., so
that the limits of the necrotic area become clearly visible. (2) Injection of 0.17,
methylene blue or indigo carmine solution into a wide mesenteric artery. In both
staining methods. the limits of the necrotic areas do riot correspond with t-e
clinical aspect. which is attributed to the development of vascular thromboses.

Homografts were made in 10 dogs. In the first group of animals the grafting was
unsuccessful owing to stricture developing within 6-10 weeks. The results were
better when Gerendas' fibrinous tube was also used in the grafting. as this pre-
vented transverse shrinkage. After detachment or softening of the tube stricture
developed also :it the 10th to 12th week, but to a smaller degree. Histological
examination revealed degeneration and absorption of the musculature with reactive
inflammation and proliferation of the connective tissue. It is concluded that Iyo-
philized oesophagus is unsuitable for clinical use, since the preserved oesophageal
tissue is absorbed and replaced by connective tissue owing to lack of vaticulariz-
stion and Innervation.

at various starting material-to-peroxide molar ratios. Yields of
3-392 for soluble (dark-brown) and 23-77% for Insoluble (black)
solid polymers were obtained. The polycondensation of ferrocene with
acetone In the presence of ZnC12 and hydrogen chloride a 56C formed
soluble polymers; that of acetyl- or 1,1'-diacetylferrocle alone
In the presence of ZnC12 at 200C and 180C respectively yielded both
soluble and insoluble polymers. All the polymers but alkylferrocene-
polyrecombinatLon products gave a one-component signal in the EPR
spectrum; x-ray structural analysis showed them to be amorphous, and
IR spectroscopy, to be conjugated polymers. Electrical conductivity.
was studied at 20-300C and 1 x 10-4 or 760 am Hg after degassing at
I x 10-4 am Hg and 50C for t3-hr.* All the'. po;yzhprs.; showed a
positive temperature coefficient and an exponential temperature
dependence of conductivitl, Electrical conductivity at 50C ranged
