2. IN THE SUEZ CANAL, THE CHANNEL AT THE LOWER END OF GREAT
BITTER LAKE IS SILTING AND APPEARS TO REQUIRE EXTENSIVE DREDGING TO
ALLOW PASSAGE OF OCENGOING VESSELS. !`THE ALEXANDRIA PORT FACILITIES
ARE 5 SS, 1 POSSIBLE SS9 2 DD, 1 POSSIBLE PF9 5 OSA PTFG, 2 PROBABLE
KOMAR PTG, 7 SO-1 SC9 5 PROBABLE PT, 2 PROBABLE T-43 MSF, 2
UNIDENTIFIED MEDIUM COMBATANTS, 2 POSSIBLE WSC, 7 SMALL PROBABLE
COMBATANTS AND 1 PROBABLE AS, AT SUEZ ARE 1 POSSIBLE NSF AND 3
MALL POSSIBLE COMBATANTS. TWO UNIDENTIFIED CRAFT ARE HEADING SOUTH
FROM SUEZ AT HIGH SPEED, AND 1 PROBABLE DD IS AT ANCHOR. IN SYRIA,
AT LATAKIA THERE ARE 1 PROBABLE KOMAR PTG, SEVERAL SMALL CRAFT,
I POSSIBLE USF, AND 2 POSSIBLE SC.
3. NO AIRCRAFT ARE NOTED AT RAS UMM SID AIRFIELD; HOWEVER, 2
OUREGAN ARE HEADED SOUTH OVER THE GULF OF AQABA.
I H-5 AIRFIELD IN JORDAN
(3508N/03710E) IS UNDERGOING EXTENSIVE RECONSTRUCTION. THE RUNWAY IS
UNSERVICEABLE AND NO AIRCRAFT ARE PRESENT. NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES
IN AIRCRAFT COUNTS OR AIRFIELD CONDITIONS ARE OBSERVED.
5. EGYPT WAS PARTIALLY COVERED BY 3 PASSES; HOWEVER, ALL 35
KNOWN SA-2 SAM SITES, THE 6 KNOWN SA-2 SAM SUPPORT FACILITIES,
AND THE 3 KNOWN TRAINING SITES ARE COVERED AT LEAST ONCE. PRELIMINARY
ANALYSIS INDICATES THAT 10 SAM SITES ARE OCCUPIED, 4 SAM SITES ARE
POSSIBLY OCCUPIED, THE OCCUPANCY OF 3 SAM SITES CANNOT BE DETERMINED,
AND 18 SAM SITES ARE UNOCCUPIED. OF THE 6 SAM SUPPORT FACILITIES,
2 CONTAIN NO EQUIPMENT OR VEHICLES, WHILE OCCUPANCY IS UNDETERMINED
IN THE OTHER 40 NO ACTIVITY CAN BE IDENTIFIED IN THE 3 TRAINING

Y INDICATE THE START OF AN ADDITIONAL LAUNCH GROUP.
PART 2.
1. IN NORTH VIETNAM THE PORTS OF F41 PHONG, CAM PHA, AND HON GAY
ARE OBSERVED AND NO UNUSUAL SHIPPING OR NAVAL ACTIVITY IS NOTED.
NO CHANGE IS OBSERVED IN THE CONSTRUCTION STATUS OF YEN BAI SUSPECT
AIRFIELD. PHUC YEN AIRFIELD IS 95 PERCENT CLOUD COVERED AND ONLY
ONE POSSIBLE AIRCRAFT IS NOTED. NO UNUSUAL OR SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITY IS
OBSERVED IN THE REMAINING CLOUD-FREE AREAS OF VIETNAM.
2. FIFTY-FOUR OF THE 175 KNOWN SA-2 SAM SITES ARE SO FAR
OBSERVED. SEVEN SITES ARE OCCUPIED: HANOI A01-2, A11-2, A14-2,
A29-2, B21-2, AND C11-2 AND HAI PHONG C32-2; 33 ARE UNOCCUPIED;
AND THE OCCUPANCY OF 14 SITES IS UNDETERMINED DUE TO THE LIMITING
CONDITIONS OF THE PHOTOGRAPHY. NO NEW SAM INSTALLATIONS ARE
IDENTIFIED.
3. SOUTH CHINA IS APPROXIMATELY 60-70 PERCENT CLOUD COVERED.
NOTHING OF SIGNIFICANCE IS NOTED IN CLOUD-FREE AREAS INCLUDING
YU-LIN COASTAL DEFENSE AND RADAR SITE AND CAT-BA COASTAL DEFENSE AND
RADAR SITE WHICH ARE COVERED ON CLEAR STEREO PHOTOGRAPHY.
PART 3.
1. THIRTEEN OF THE 24 KNOWN-DEPLOYED ICBM COMPLEXES ARE OBSERVED
ON THIS MISSION. DOMBAROVSKIT, KARTALY, KOZELSK, OMSK, PERN, AND
ZHANGIZ-TOBE ARE CLEAR; SVOBODNYY, TATISHCHEVO, UZHUR, YEDROVO,
AND YOSHKAR-OLA ARE OBSCURED BY SCATTERED CLOUDS, WHILE HEAVY CLOUDS
HINDER INTERPRETATION OF ALEYSK AND NOVOBISIRSK.
2. THREE TYPE IIID SINGLE SILO LAUNCH SITES ARE NEWLY IDENTIFIED;
ONE AT KOZELSK FILLS OUT LAUNCH GROUP J; A PROBABLE SITE AT YEDROVO
IS THE NINTH SITE IN LAUNCH GROUP K; AND A POSSIBLE SITE AT SVOBODNYY

3. THE TYURATAM MISSILE TEST CENTER IS ALMOST ENTIRELY OBSCURED
BY HEAVY CLOUDS ON ONLY,A FEW OF THE SITES IN THE "L" 25X1
GROUP AND LAUNCH SITE I-4 ARE VISIBLE. NO ACTIVITY IS NOTED.
4. THE PLESETSK MISSILE & SPACE CENTER AND THE KAPUSTIN YAR/
VLADINIROVKA MISSILE TEST CENTER ARE NOT COVERED.
5. THE SHUANG-CHENG-TZU MISSILE TEST CENTER, CHINA, IS COMPLETELY
COVERED ON CLEAR, STEREO PHOTOGRAPHY WITH NO ACTIVITY NOTED.
6. THE MOSCOW AREA IS COVERED ON 3 PASSES WITH WEATHER RANGING
FROM SCATTERED-TO-TOTAL CLOUD COVER. THOSE COMPLEXES OBSERVED
INCLUDE E15t E24, AND E31. NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES OBSERVED.
7. SIX OF THE 36 KNOWN-PROBABLE LONG RANGE SAN LAUNCH COMPLEXES
ARE OBSERVED INCLUDING THOSE AT KIMRY, BABAYEVO, FEODOSIYA,
VOLGOGRAD, XIYEV, AND MOZHAYSK. NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES ARE OBSERVED.
8. ONLY VLADIVOSTOK (B UKTA NOVIK AND BUKTA ULISA) OF THE HIGH
PRIORITY NAVAL TARGETS IS COVERED. NO UNUSUAL OB OR ACTIVITY IS
NOTED.
9. A SEARCH WAS MADE ONI PHOTOGRAPHY WHICH COVERED 25X1
A LARGE PORTION OF THE EAST COAST OF THE CASPIAN SEA IN AN EFFORT TO
LOCATE THE POSSIBLE SURFACE EFFECT SHIP WHICH HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY
OBSERVED ON THE WEST COAST OF KASPIYSK, USSR (RE NPIC 1155).
RESULTS OF THE SEARCH WERE NEGATIVE.
11. PORTIONS OF THE ISLANDS OF NOVAYA ZEMLYA, USSR, ARE COVERED
FROM APPROXIMATELY 73-OON TO 76-ION ON PHOTOGRAPHY OF POOR INTER-
PRETABILITY. THE UNDERGOUND TEST FACILITIES ARE CLOUD COVERED/
NOT COVERED. NO NEW GOUND ZEROS OR PREPARATIONS FOR FUTURE TESTS ARE
OBSERVED IN CLOUD-FREE AREAS.

LOCATED AT THE MAIN CONTROL POINT (NP) AND IN THE TENT CAMPS TO
' WEST OF THE !ICP. APPROXIMATELY 28 TENTS ARE LOCATED NEAR THE AIR-
FIELD AND APPROXIMATELY 30 MORE ARE IN THE VICINITY OF CAMP 4
IN THE SUPPORT AREA. 00 NEW TEST PREPARATIONS ARE OBSERVED IN THE
OPERATIONS AREA.
13. THE CHIU-ND-SHIN PROBABLE ! PORT BASE OF THE LOP NOR NUCLEAR
TEST SITE IS COVERED ON CLEAR PHOTOGRAPHY. NO SIGNIFICANT NEW
ACTIVITY OBSERVED.
