THIS IS A PRELIMINARY OAK CABLE BASED ON PHOTOGRAPHY FROM
KH-4 MISSION 1042-1, DATED 17-22 JUNE 1967. PART I REPORTS ON
HIGH INTEREST TARGETS OBSERVED IN THE MIDDLE EAST, PART 2 ON CHINA
SOUTH OF 32 DEGREES NORTH AND NORTH VIETNAM, AND PART 3 ON OTHER
TARGETS, PRIMARILY IN THE USSR. ANALYSIS IS CONTINUING.

2. THE SUEZ CANAL IS BLOCKED 3 NM SOUTH OF PORT SAID BY A
SUNKEN PASSENGER VESSEL. APPROXIMATELY 30 VESSELS ARE LOCATED
ALONG THE CANAL AWAITING REOPENING. NO TRAFFIC IS OBSERVED
IN THE PORT SAID AREA.
3. SIXTEEN CAT/CUB AIRCRAFT ARE OBSERVED AT CAIRO INTERNATIONAL

CUB USUALLY SEEN AT THIS AIRFIELD.
4. EXTENSIVE BOMB DAMAGE IS NOTED AT SEVERAL OF THE SIGNIFICANT
EGYPTIAN AIRFIELDS. ALTHOUGH THE COUNT OF AIRCRAFT OBSERVED
IS RELATIVELY LOW, A TOTAL OF OVER 200 CHARRED AREAS (PROBABLY
DESTROYED AIRCRAFT) ARE OBSERVED AT THE AIRCRAFT PARKING APRONS,
HARDSTANDS, AND DISPERSAL AREAS OF THESE AIRFIELDS.
5. THE EGYPTIAN SAM FACILITIES ARE COVERED
OF THE 24 SITES, 9 HAVE BEEN ANALYSED AND IT IS DETERMINED THAT
6 ARE OCCUPIED, I POSSIBLE OCCUPIED, 1 UNOCCUPIED, AND I UNDETER-
MINED. ONE SAM SUPPORT FACILITY IS OBSERVED; HOWEVER, NO ACTIVITY
IS NOTED.

7. MANY INDUSTRIAL TARGETS IN THE UAR ARE COVERED ON PHOT-
OGRAPHY OF RELATIVELY POOR INTERPRETABILITY. NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES

WITH AN ESTIMATED 45 PERCENT CLOUD COVER. OF THE
172 KNOWN SAM SITES, 57 ARE OBSERVED IN CLOUD-FREE AREAS.
THE SEARCH IS CONTINUING. NO NEW SAM INSTALLATIONS HAVE BEEN
IDENTIFIED AND NO THER SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITY IS OBSERVED.
2. NO SIGNIFICANT MILITARY ACTIVITY IS OBSERVED IN THE VERY
SMALL PORTION OF SOUTH CHINA WHICH IS COVERED ON THE PHOTOGRAPHY.
PART 3.
1. NINE OF THE 24 DEPLOYED ICBM COMPLEXES ARE COVERED ON THIS
MISSION. KOSTROMA AND YURYA ARE COMPLETELY COVERED ON CLEAR
PHOTOGRAPHY. DROVYANAYA, IMENI GASTELLO, OLOVYANNAYA, TATISH-
CHEVO, TEYKOVO, UZHUR, AND YOSHKAR-OLA ARE OBSERVED THROUGH
SCATTERED TO HEAVY CLOUDS. SIX TYPE IIID SITES ARE NEWLY IDENTIFIED.
FIVE SITES, INCLUDING A CONTROL SITE, APE IDENTIFIED AT OLOV-
YANNAYA. THESE SITES CONFIRM THE EXISTANCF OF THE NINTH GROUP
AT THIS COMPLEX. SUPPORT BUILDINGS FOR THE CONTROL
SITE WERE APPARENT HOWEVER, THE FIRST EVIDENCE OF A
SITE IS ON THIS MISSION. AT KOSTROMA, A SITE IS IDENTIFIED AT
THE TRANSRER POINT.
THE PLESETSK MISSILE AND SPACE CENTER IS IMAGED ON THREE PASSES
OF PHOTOGRAPHYI I NO NEW LAUNCH FACILITIES
ARE IDENTIFIED. THE TYURATAM MISSILE TEST CENTER IS NOT COVERED.
PORTIONS OF THE KAPUSTIN YAR/VLADIMIROVKA MISSILE TEST CENTER
INCLUDING THE SAM COMPLEX, LAUNCH COMPLEXES C, D, G, AND H AND
THE AHKTUBINSK/VLADIMIROVKA AIRFIELD ARE VISIBLE THROUGH
SCATTERED TO HEAVY CLOUDS. MISSILE EXERCISES ARE OBSERVED AT
LAUNCH AREAS 1C, 2C, 3C, AND 4C AND THE TWO UNIDENTIFIED OBJECTS
REMAIN ON THE PADS AT COMPLEX H. AN AERODYNAMIC VEHICLE VEHICLE
IS OBSERVED ON A LAUNCHER AT LAUNCH AREA. 3D.
THE SHUANG-CHENG-TZU MISSILE TEST CENTER, CHINA, WITH THE
EXCEPTION OF THE AIRFIELD IS COVERED
PHOTOGRAPHY WITH 25X1
POOR-TO-FAIR INTERPRETABILITY. NO ACTIVITY IS OBSERVED AT THE

SSM LAUNCH FACILITIES. UNIDENTIFIED CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES
AT SUSPECT SSM TRAINING SITES 3 AND 5, LOCATED 56 NM NORTH AND
88 NM NNE, RESPECTIVELY, OF THE MAIN SUPPORT BASE.
2. THE SPRY-SHAGAN ANTIMISSILE TEST CENTER IS COVERED ON
CLEAR PHOTOGRAPHY. A PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS REVEALS CONTINUING
CONSTRUCTION AT HEN ROOST NORTH, WITH THE LENGTH OF THE NEW PROBABLE
ANTENNA NOW AT 450 FEET.
3. OF NINE PROBABLE LONG RANGE SAM LAUNCH COMPLEXES PROGRAMMED
FOR COVERAGE, ONLY FIVE HAVE BEEN EXAMINED THUS FAR WITH WEATHER
CONDITIONS RANGING FROM CLEAR TO POOP. THE FIVE ARE TALLINN,
CHEREPOVETS, LIEPAJA, MURASHI, AND KURESSAPRE. IN ADDITION,
TWO PROBABLE LONG RANGE SAM LAUNCH COMPLEXES ARE NEWLY IDENTIFIED,
ONE NEAR KALININGRAD (5440N 02101E) AND ONE NEAR VENTSPILS
(5116N 0212SE) , USSR. BOTH COMPLEXES ARE THREE SITED. THE
KALININGRA.D COMPLEX CAN BE NEGATED ON
l AND THE VENTSPILS COMPLEX CAN BE NEGATED
4. TEST FACILITIES AT BIYSK9 USSR, AND PEI-CHING, CHINA,
SHOW NO UNUSUAL ACTIVITY.

8. THE NORTH SEA FLEET AREA EXCEPT FOR IOKANGP IS COVERED.
SUBMARINE ORDER OF BATTLE APPEARS NORMAL.
9. CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES OF THE MOSKVA/CHEREPOVETS BEER CAN
STRUCTURE AND AN OBJECT ATOP THE PLATFORM MAY BE A "BACK-TWIN"
(MYTISHCHI TYPE) ANTENNA UNDER CONSTRUCTION. A SIMILAR SITUATION
EXISTS AT THE PARNU AIR WARNING RADAR FACILITY THERE A PROBABLE
"BACK-TWIN" ANTENNA IS POSSIBLY PARTIALLY ASSEMBLED ATOP THE BEER
CAN PLATFORM.
MODIFICATION OF THE LENINGRAD AIR WARNING RADAR FACILITIES IS
CONTINUING AND TAPA NOW BECOMES THE FIRST OF THOSE ON THE INNER
RING TO BE IDENTIFIED AS BEING MODIFIED. THIS GENERALLY CONSISTS
OF REMOVAL OF THE RADAR MOUNDS AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF TOWERS
IN THEIR PLACE.
10. THE SOVIET BUILDUP WHICH. WAS REPORTED
PT CHOYBALSAN, MONGOLIA CONTINUES. A NEW MOTOR
PARK AND TENT CAMP IS NOTED WEST OF THE COMPLEX AND A PROBABLE
NEW AIRFIELD IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION 7 NM ENE OF CHOYBALSAN.
