Approved For Release 2000/08/30 : CIA-RDP80-01446R000100170026-1 OPERATIONS COORDINATING BOARD WASHINGTON 25, D. C. MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD May 6, 1955 Two special requests were received from Mr. Donald Irwin before this record was begun. One of these was for the names of the Soviet scientists on an Interplanetary Commission. These names were broad- cast by Moscow radio and complete FYIIS ticker was supplied to Mr. Irwin within about two hours. (Dr. Debevoise) About a week later, Mr. Irwin requested figures on refugees and escapees now in the United States from the European area. This request came in about 11:30 a.m., and was not filled until about 4:30 p.m., slightly over Mr. Irwln's deadline. The information was secured through a telephone request to FOA who found it necessary to go to the Department of Justice. Owing to the fact that the figures were for Mr. Rockefeller's office, and to the fact that the Corsi affair was occupying the attention of the press, Justice cleared the figures at a very high level before releasing them to FOA. (Dr. Debevoise) 25X1A9a Mr. Stacy Aay requested that Mr. Charles Taquey secure the services of two well-informed intelligence officers to brief him on certain aspects of the Soviet Point IV Program not covered in earlier papers by OIR and ORR. Through Mr. Evans of OIR and then acting chief of ORR, I arranged for and Mr. Helmut Sonnenfeldt to brief Mr. May. Mr. May appeared pleased and requested that the material presented in the briefing be gathered together in typewritten form for Mr. Rockefeller. This is being done.
