1. The following mamwrandum addressed to the Assistant Director
(Personnel) from the Assistant Deputy Director (Administration) dated
18 April 1953 is quoted for yang information:
"Subject: Separation of Personnel from the Agency
1. At his meeting with the Deputy Directors on 7 April 19539
the Director messed concern over his understanding of the
methods employed in some instances in separating ind4.vids
from the Agency and, in particular, those cases where disagree-
nnts exist between Assistant Direetars, Staff Chiefs, cc Office
Heads and the administrative components of the Agency.
2. The Director requested that alV such cases be referred to
the Impactor General who, if he is unable` to effect settleQnent,
will thou make his recommendations to the Director for final
decision,
3. According1,y9 the Assistant Director (Personnel) will
refer cases of this kind to the Office of the Deputy Director
(A&Anistration) where attempts will be ode to resolve the dis?
agrece ate. If they cannot be settled at this level they will
then be referred to the Inspector General,

2. Cases of the type referred to in the memorandum quoted above
will be brought to the attention of the Personnel Director for appropriate
disposition.
