I. in reply to the referenced request there are attached
hereto two tables which respond to the four queries contained in
your n ernorandam. Both tables are unclassified and may be
used accordingly after removal of the cover sheet.
2. Table I gives State and Commerce statistics on the ex-
port of machinery and transport equipment from the Bloc to Latin
America for the years 1951' through 1954. Comparable data for
1955 (or the first half) are not as yet av ilablee. Table 2 contains
unclassified inforrnation, prim arily from FDD and on
Bloc trade missions to Latin America. :S'tch information is not
available on an unclassified basis prior to 1954, except through
extensive research in Latin American newspapers. Subsequent
to 1954 the unclassified information relates primarily to the
more important grade missions.
