1. On 7 January 1949 the "Peasants? Organization" of the Tudeh Party held
a meeting, which was presided over by the Tudeh leader Dr. Mohammed Bahraini
and was attended by twenty-three active members of the Party and of the
Tudeh Central United Council. Representing the Mazanderaan farmers were
Hassan Bohluli, from the Chalns Districts Ahmad Jahanyar, from the Babol
District; All Mohammed Votio apfrom the Sari District. A few Tudeh land-
owners, who rarely attend Tudeh meetings, also came to this session.
2. The first speech of the meeting was delivered,by Chairman Bahraini, who
stated that the organization represented the first scientific and useful
effort to be exerted on behalf-of the farmers who had traditionally con-
stituted the largest class of oppressed people in Iran. In the past any
results which had been achieved by the Tudeh to assist and organize the
oppressed classes had mainly assisted the laborers, and since the country
was primarily agricultural. and since the farmers had not been benefited,
Behrami expressed the desire to organize the farmers and peasants through
the "Peasants' Organization" of the Tudeh0 He said that the farmers and
the laborers might then advance together and achieve their common aims.
3. Following the speech of Chairman Bahraami, Hassan Bohiuli spoke in behalf
of the Mazenderaan farmers, who, he declared, were joining the "Peasants'
Organization" of the Tudeh,
4. Eshbab-Pur (fnu), Provisional Secretary of the Tudeh Peasants' Commission,.
who is an important landowner in the Tehran area as well as in Mazaanderan,
announced the inauguration of a new Tudeh publication entitled "People
for Farmers (sic)." lie said that this publication would be the official
organ of the Tudeh "Peasants' Organization", and that it would appear
within the next few days. ue urged all comrade farmers to contribute
news which could be used in this publication.
