These persons include Soekarno, Hatta, Sjahrir and other high officials. 2. Dr. Soekiman, Minister of Interior of the Republic and chairman of the central council of the Masjoemi, has decided to "fight to the last". As a means of mitigating the high tension in oontinenta]. Asiatic countries, at a conference held by the Dutch cabinet it was decided to befriend Soekarno to the extent that the civil administration of the Republic win be tolerated on certain conditions and top men of the Republic will be reinstated in any positions that they can be. These persons will be referred to as "nationalists" whereas other will be referred to as "irresponsible extremists". The first step in this plan was the release of Darmasetiawan and some of the other members of the Republic who were detained in Batavia, West Borneo is the only member constituent state that supports the Dutch military action.
