1. Orlando 1!Maroglio was reinstated as President of the Central Bank of
Argentina at the demand of Foreign Minister Juan Bramuglia who cabled
President Peron from Paris that he, Bramuglia, would not visit the
United States unless I4aroglio were returned to his position. If
Maroglio were discredited by his own government, Bramuglia felt that his
mission in the United States would be hopeless. faroglio's position
will now hinge on the success or failure of the Foreign Minister's con-
versations- in the United States.
2. Tension between Maroglio and Miguel Miranda,, president of the National
Economic Council, was very evident on 7 December, when both presided at
the signing of a Polish-A rrentine trade agreement.
