1. It is reported that certain seambers of the Greek co niby in Turkey, said to
be enemies of Patriarch Maximos since the time vhen the latter was Metropolitan
of Chalcedon, have demanded the intervention of Turkish authorities in the
question of the Patrbreh's mental condition. This group states that in
fAeir cap&!ity as me613ers of the Greek oommanity, they are within their rights
in demanding such intervention, just as the ne bera of a family aay wise
such a prkrilege in the case of a relative suffering from a mental ailoent.
They point to certain articles in the Turkish civil code which prescribe that
in case of such deza a, a medical oomaission shall be net up bar order
of a ooupefient tribunal. The eomaission would uramiae the patient and report
its f lndint s, whereupon the tribunal would decide as to the appointment of a
suitable trustee.

Phanar circles are exceedingly concerned about this

he has often tendered during the last month and which the Greek ?overl-
ment has not accepted, for political reasons.
