Machek as spokesman for the several Serbian political parties seeking to settle whatever differences exist between the Serbs and the Croats. This action on the part of the Serbs is prompted by the fear that, if Machek should suddenly die, it would become an impossibility to negotiate with his likely successor, Jura;, Krnjevich, known for his anti-Sarb feelings. 2. The Serbs have not yet been-able to agree on one personality who would both enjoy the confidence of all their factions and be able to negotiate with the Croats without Jeoperdiaing Serbian interests. Aorrever, it appears that Oas3.av Nikitovich, who other than a3rving 36 hours in the Cvetkovich pre-war government is politically unknown, has formed a group of Serb politicasae in Paris in an effort to unify the Serbs and select a leader for the negotia- tions. This group has been financing trips and supporting Serb politidans who have been coming to Paris from various parts of Europe, Nikitovich claims contact with Prince Paul who is reported to have reentered political life and to be in touch with King Peter and Doshidar Purich, a former Prime Minister of the Yugoslav Government-in-Exile, 3. Dragisha Cvetkovich, who is persona grata with Maehek, is also a member of this Paris group which conatts largely of members of the Radical Party. The Inde- pendent Democratic Party will be represented by its leader Dr. Adam PrIbiehevieh, who recently arrived in Paris from Italy, ~ e It is interesting to note thnt Sava Kosanovich, ambassador to Washington, is the secretary of the Indepen- dent Democratic Party, Although. the IDP has announced that it does not recognize Kosanovich as a representative of the Party in the Tito Government, it is reported that he will return to Yugoslavia to as- sist in bringing the IDS into the National, Front.)
