No official exchan,>;e is quoted on the Indonesian rupiah
since it is not yet backed or tied to any other currency.
However, a conference with the Dutch is being planned
to link the rupiah with the guilder. The rupiah is
not accepted or circulated outside of the Netherlands
East Indies and it is officially circulated only in
the Republican area. The unofficial local exchange
between the rupiah anti the Netherlands India Civil
Affairs guilder is not known but it is reported to
be changin ; daily in favor of the rupiah which has
.higher purchasin . power in the bazaar.
