LAUNCH COMPLEX B IS THE LARGEST RESEARCH AND
DEVELOPMENT TYPE LAUNCH FACILITY IN CHINA, IT
WAS CONSTRUCTED IN APPROXIMATELY 16 MONTHS:
AUGUST 1965 - DECEMBER 1966.

9. MISSION READOUT: A PORTION OF THE RAIL SPUR SERVING LAUNCH COMPLEX B
HAS BEEN REMOVED JUST NORTHEAST OF THE RAIL-TO-GANTRY TRANSFER POINT AND
A LARGE EXCAVATION, APPROXIMATELY 200 X 100 FT, HAS BEEN DUG AT THIS
OFF THE EXISTING SPUR AND IS PARTIALLY COMPLETE TO THE AREA NORTHWEST OF
THE EXCAVATION. PRELIMINARY GRADING IS VISIBLE TO A POINT WEST OF THE
CONTROL BUNKER. A NEW UNIDENTIFIED LINEAR SCAR RUNS NORTHWEST FROM
THE AREA OF THE EXCAVATION FOR APPROXIMATELY 0.5 NM, NEW TRENCHING
POSSIBLY FOR CONDUITS OR BURIED PIPELINES IS VISIBLE EAST OF THE LAUNCH
FACILITY.
