ODE - 4039 arriveq' on 29 August at 2300. 2. Photography is good quality, but there was a complete mal- function after the first 100 frames. The tracker also malfunctioned; although there are periodic frames throughout the mission, no tracker stereo is possible. 3. Enlargements of the first 66 frames of the tracker were util- ized in preparing this report. Frames 67 - 79 showed only clouds and mountains, and the remainder of the mission was outside of the Soviet Union. ODE - 4039, 30 August 1957. 1. Nothing of prime importance was noted. 2. LEPSA, USSR 46? 13'N, 78? 53'E; The town of Lepsa, about 2C0 nautical miles ITNE of Alma Ate, is covered by good photography. There are several rail spurs, but no significant industry. There is a large fuel storage tank and ten smaller tanks. This small town appears to be a regional distribution point. 3. The following items of possible intelligence interest were noted on the tracker enlargements: 1P TOP SECRET 7 PAR-176-57 30 August 1957 - at a point 450 21'Id, 78? 0O'E there are scars resembling blast marks both east and west of the railroad tracks. Vehicle tracks lead to the scars from the railroad. - near the village of Egen-Su, 45? 33'N, in the town of Ust Kamenogorsk, 49? 56'ii, 820 45'E, there is a warehouse installation with 24 stor.~.ze buildings.
