CHRONOLOGY OF SIGNIFICANT INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST ACTS

1 Ma'ich 1974 France, Factory owned by ITT subsidiary destroyed.
Paris
The Sonolar factory, owned by a French sub-
sidiary of the International Telephone and
Telegraph Company, was destroyed by fire.
A group calling itself "We Must Do Some-
thing" telephoned Agence France Presse and
claimed responsibility for the fire, which
it said was to welcome the Chilean Ambas-
sador to France. (Comment: ITT has been
accused of attempting to thwart the 1970
election of Chile's late Marxist President
Salvador Allende.) (UNCLASSIFIED)
Lebanon, British Airways plane hijacked.
Beirut A Britis Airways VC-10 with 1.02 persons
aboard was hijacked by two armed terror-
ists soon after takeoff from Beirut air-
port, the only stop on a Bombay to London
flight. The hijackers forced the aircraft
to land at Amsterdam. After allowing all
passengers and crew members to flee, the
terrorists destroyed the aircraft by using
the plane's liquor supply to set the air-
craft on fire. A group calling itself the
Organization of Arab Nationalist Youth for
the Liberation of Palestine claimed respon-
sibility for the hijacking, according to
