ACQUIRED (LISTED BELOW) 25X1A6a 29 TI f6)F IN SUPPLEMENT TO REPORT NO. 1. Two battalions of 10 Infantry Regiment from Kirdjall, one battalion of 21 infanta. Regimlent from Pashmakli, units of 27 Infantry Regiment, field artillery units, 150-200 trucks, and 10 light tanks, are deployed in the Kula-a?etrich area. In addition, 2I light tanks were in Petrich4 2? one field artillery unit (believed to be from Samokov), with heavy and light tanks is stationed at Nevrokop. Two infantry battalions, in trucks, passed through Nevrokop in early March 1949, en route for the Greek frontier. 3. Cavalry units from Sofia, six tanks and units of 1 Engineering Regiment including a pontoon section are stationed between Nevrokop and Melnik. A field artillery unite with 30 horse-drawn guns,).is at Melnik. 4. one, group (three batteries) of howitzers, drawn by tractors, is in the Melnik-Sveti Vrach area. 5. A tank unit and one infantry battalion from Plovdiv arrived in the Razlog - Banskeo area in March. 6. Units of the Sofia Garrison left recently for Macedonia. War material (artillery ammunition) is also being despatched. 7, New cavalry formations are being organized in Berkovitsa, where there is also a large artillery park. A unit of heavy guns, dependent on Ferdinandovo, is also stationed here.. 8. A mounted artillery regiment is being formed at Ferdinandovo 0 In addition., numbers of heavy guns have recently arrived. 9. Heavy anti:-aircraft guns (on cross braced mountings),, arrived at Vra'sa in March. Three Russian officers accompanied the guns, and exercises were carried out, 10. More than 500 Russian officers (employed in administrative duties) are residing with their families in Varna, 11. There are about 500=600 Russian specialists who are now believed to be serving with the Bulgarian Army. I 12., More Russians in civilian clothes have arrived recently in Sofia.
