SIGNIFICANCE: THIS BRIEFING BOARD DEPICTS STRIKE DAMAGE TO THE HAI PHONG PETROLEUM PRODUCTS STORAGE. 2. LOCATION: THIS INSTALLATION IS LOCATED 2.2 NM WEST-NORTHWEST OF HAI PRONG. 3. REMARKS: THE TOTAL PRE-STRIKE STORAGE CAPACITY OF THE INSTALLATION IS ASSESSED AT 47,925 METRIC TONS. 4. STRIKE INFORMATION: STRIKE INFORMATION REPORTS THAT THIS INSTALLATION WAS STRUCK ON 29 JUNE 1966, ON 07 JULY 1966, AND ON 02 AUGUST 1966. 5. BACKGROUND: THE STRIKES OF 29 JUNE AND 07 JULY DESTROYED EIGHTEEN TANKS, DAMAGED SIXTEEN TANKS, DESTROYED THE PUMP HOUSE SERVING THE WESTERN TANK AREA, BUT LEFT APPARENTLY UNDAMAGED ONE HORIZONTAL SERVICE TANK. 6. ONE HORIZONTAL SERVICE TANK WAS LEFT APPARENTLY UNDAMAGED. FOUR BUILDINGS WITHIN THE FACILITY WERE DESTROYED AND ONE WAS DAMAGED. NEWLY-IDENTIFIED ON THIS MISSION IS A PROBABLE UNDERGROUND POL STORAGE AREA ON THE SOUTH BANK OF THE CUA CAM (DISTRIBUTARY) BETWEEN THE MIDDLE AND EASTERN PIERS.
