On 22 March 19651 1 Technical Repre-
sentative for discussed the negative marking oblem,
and its relationship to the printer, with
Assistant for Operations, NPIC. stated that no
marks or codes of any manner or material would be placed on the ori-
ginal negative other than those resulting from the acquisition and
processing phases. I is aware cf' the fact that the
lack of marks on the negative would greatly reduce the automatic
features of the printer. He suggested the use of edge sensors and
footage counters these will be investigated as stated in the
basic memorandum.
