S. STAT Approved For Rele April 12, 1962 STAT STAT STAT STAT STAT tse 2005/02/17: CIA-RDP78B04770A001500010012-3 Declass Review by NGA. This letter is a follow-up on our phone conversation this date concerning the 70-mm Twin Path Light Table. We are delighted that you will be placing an initial order with us for twelve instruments with the probability of ordering additional tables in the future. Upon receipt of your order we should be able to deliver the first instrument within 60 days, followed by an additional instrument each week thereafter. We hope this delivery schedule will meet with your requirements. As stated in ph( conversation, I was authorized to quote you a price per light table if ordered in lots of 10 or more. This price for the light table does not include the Q adaptor ring (which permits a 3600 rotation of the pod) or the adaptor brackets for the 1,000-foot spools. The ring will cost approximately $60.00 and brackets for the 1,000-foot spools $40.00. If the order is for more than 15 instruments the adaptor ring and bracket for 1 000-foot spools can probably be absorbed in the price of I er instrument. The enclosed photograph of a cardboard model best illustrates our current concept of the light table. Handles will be placed on the turning knobs. The center bracket is removable, thus permit- ting the use of 5-inch material. Either a stereo or monocular microscope can be used and the entire light field can be viewed with either instrument. With the " adaptor ring a pod can be rotated 3600. The table can be rotated 180? on its base and tilted 200 . A variable light source is designed for the instrument. We will examine the feasibility of placing eight tubes (in a cross grid arrangement) in the light box without adding appreciably to the depth of the box. Each pair of tubes will operate from a separate switch. A glass plate can be placed on the light table to flatten the film. With our design drawings and the model, refinements can be made before we go into final production. An appreciable change in design would require a re-evaluation of our estimated cost for the instrument. We all hope, of course, that refinements will result in an instrument which will provide better service at lower cost. We will continue our work, directed toward the completion of design drawings and the production of a working model. We hope you will be able to make a trip to our facility in sunny in the near future at which time you and I can review in detail the specifications on the instrument before starting production.
