Thank you very much for your letter
of August 29th in answer to my letter of August ll.th
in connection with the Inter-American Bar Association.
I am not informed as to the work done
by the International Commission of Jurists which would
be helpful to the United States in Latin America. I
have received pamphlets which, to a large extent, are
heavy books showing communistic trials. Of course,
these might be helpful if given to enough people in
Latin America and read. However, I feel that the
Inter-American Bar's program, which is anti-eommunis-
tic and can be handled by Latins, would be helpful
to the United States and much easier than having
the Americans handle it themselves.
T know personally most of the gentle-
men on the Board of the American Fund for Free Jurists.
However, the work of that organization is so far differ-
ent from ours that I do not believe they would be in-
terested in our program nor do I feel that in view of
this knowledge they would be willing to finance any
activity of the Inter-American Bar Association.
I appreciate your interest in this
matter and I am sorry that the Inter-American Bar
Association can not carry out its program.
